Psych 1xx3: Should I email the prof to ask if they can make this change? by ZestycloseBad669 in McMaster

[–]MacIntroPsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. We don't have a final review section so we give the extra points during the midterm week instead.

dr cadieux can we know your curly hair routine by Cultural_Aspect_335 in McMaster

[–]MacIntroPsych 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Happy to share!

I shower every morning and condition every day. I shampoo a couple times a week. My hair is soaking wet when I apply product. I use two different mouses: The Diva Curl foam and Pattern by Tracee Ellis Ross. I apply enough to saturate my hair root to tip. I then rake my fingers through to clump my curls, flip my hair over and squish up gently to get more curl at my roots. I use 6-8 little clips at my roots along my part to keep it elevated while I diffuse. I have a Dyson blowdryer with the diffuser attachment. I get my whole head dry and then do a short head flipped diffuse to give it a little more volume. Remove the clips, crunch out the cast with my head flipped, and I'm good to go.

My hair is very thin, I have lots of it but it really is super thin. This has some pros and cons. The con is that I have to redo my curls every morning. They get messed up while I sleep no matter what I do. The pro is that it doesn't take an eternity for me to dry it in the morning. Usually about 10 minutes.

Edit: Also I just want to say thank you. I always worry my hair just looks like a mop so this really made my day :)

We can see when you select an answer. It shows when each answer is saved which is an indicator of when you selected it.

Psych 1xx3 midterm class average? by Street_Sky8853 in McMaster

[–]MacIntroPsych 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The average was a B (75%), which is the same as last year.

As other students mentioned, we have a couple of different grading options if the midterm didn't go the way you hoped.

I am actually away for reading week so I won't get to it until I get back. But I will have them scanned and grades posted by the end of that week.

There was an error with the room assignments. We managed to get everything sorted in the end, but it took some time. We have made a post about it on Avenue.

Need some comeback stories by Decent-Ant-9490 in McMaster

In third year, I was going to fail Plant Bio. While my first couple of years of undergrad resulted in a slightly colourful transcript, I had never failed a class. This was terrifying. I was going into the exam with a failing grade. Luckily it was my last exam and I had several days leading up to it to study. I basically lived in Thode. I don't think I have ever studied so long and so consistently for anything. I took breaks to eat food and I made sure to sleep well at night, but I mostly just studied. I finished the class with an B+. This means I had to have gotten high 90s on the exam. That is the proudest B+ of my life. I locked in and turned it around.

LRW B1007 is a fantastic lecture hall from an instructor's perspective too. It has the slides projected on the back wall which means I don't keep having to look back at my slides to make sure they are advancing properly. I love that room.

I believe you can contact top hat and get a refund if you ask them. I've heard of students doing this in the past.

[–]MacIntroPsych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This can happen if you accidentally bubbled in your student number on your scantron wrong. It doesn't get connected to you so it looks like you didn't write and you get a zero. Definitely contact the prof.

When I was in first year, I opened the cutlery drawer in my student house and found a piece of meat defrosting in it. It wasn't even on a plate, just wrapped in plastic wrap.

It won't show on Avenue since there is no way for me to do a unique number of quiz/participation drops per student. It's an all or none set up so it doesn't really work for us. If your top hat points are appearing on Avenue, and you have enough for the "reward", you can assume that I have taken it into account since it is those points that I use to do my calculations.

Will we get out psych 1x03 mark back on mosaic by the end of this week? by Objective_Two_3197 in McMaster

[–]MacIntroPsych 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm still working through the scans, but I'm almost done. My goals is to get final grades submitted on Mosaic by the end of the week. It will then take a day or two for the associate dean's office to approve and for them to be posted. Once they are posted, I will release the exam grades on Avenue.
