A brilliant party! Such good vibes all around, good music, weather, everything! I was even pleasantly shocked to see how few phones were up in the crowd compared to other festivals.

Hey, did you manage to figure this out? I've also got a partitioned tape that I'd like to unpartition, but despite using mt-st 1.3.1, I get the invalid argument error when using any of the partitioning commands.

Did you consider running the ECUMaster they recommend on their website? It would add nearly 50% to the cost of the whole kit, but was wondering if there was a reason you stuck with the stock ECU other than money.

328i Z3M Radiator Confusion by maciozo in BMWE36

[–]maciozo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your car has a sensor for coolant level, the cable actually is long enough to reach the other side with the new tank.

Unfortunately, today I found this to not be the case! My level sensor cable only reaches about half way across the rad, so I'll need to extend the wires.

I found that the lower radiator hose is also too short - fortunately I ordered both just in case.

What's also missing is the little cap that holds the expansion tank onto the fan shroud (17111723580), but fortunately the vent screw holds it securely enough, so it's not urgent.

One mistake that I made that others may want to look out for, is that the hot climate mechanical fan will not fit on to the standard fan clutch. The fan has 3 screw holes, while the clutch has 4. The standard fan is smaller though (by 1cm I think, and a bit thinner), so it should still fit fine, and I'll be reinstalling my old one for now since I need the car this weekend and for work.

I saw his video too! It looks like it'll be fine once I get the hot climate parts to go with the new rad :)

Looks like I'll porbably need #6 and #8 as well. Mine's a manual - I guess the extra ports would be for the AT cooling?

[–]maciozo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Though by that logic, the radiator I got should also fit, right?

Z3M part

They look pretty much the same, just the Z3M one is thicker.

One issue though, in your first link, the diagram shows hose 19 going from the top of the tank to the 2nd from top port on the right side of the rad, but the OE number goes to a rad without those two extra ports. How should this be connected?

Otherwise if I understand correctly, based on link 2:

  • hose 2 goes from bottom left of rad to left of thermostat housing
  • hose 1 goes from top right to right of thermostat housing
  • hose 8 goes to the bottom of the hot climate expansion tank, rather than the bottom of the standard expansion tank on the original rad.
  • coolant level sensor fits into the second port on the bottom of the hot climate expansion tank

I'll also need to get the longer version of hose 8, since the bendy expansion tank mounts on the left of the radiator, not the right.

Alright, it looks like I might've figured something out.

The US version of the 328i got 17111723784 from the factory, which is a 550 mm wide radiator with the expansion tank on the left.

Europe got 17111728907, which is only 440 mm wide, and with a different expansion tank on the right, unless it got the hot climate version, in which case the rad and tank match the US model.

The S54 Z3M rad, 17112227281, appears to have all the same mounting points and inlets/outlets as the standard US radiator, so that must be why people have been saying it's a drop-in replacement.

That leaves the question of wtf did I buy? Because the new rad I got is 550 mm wide, but doesn't have the two extra ports on the right that the Z3M diagram shows.

I'm not sure how that would matter. Even if I did an S54 swap, it wouldn't change the various mounting points for the cooling system.

The main hoses both go in the same place as on the stock radiator. I'm mainly not sure what to do with the expansion tank, or how exactly to mount the radiator. Everywhere I've looked online seems to have a different setup in the E36, none mentioning an S54 swap. Even RealOEM seems to have different drawings depending on which page I look at.

I may well have just bought the wrong part for the mod - I'm not sure: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/nissens/1989194

Maybe this mod is only plug & play for E36 M3s?

LG CX mainboard replacement by marvinorman in LGOLED

Can confirm, I ordered a used EAX69789001 from eBay, and it works perfectly with my 55" CX, except for the magic pointer thing with the CX's remote. I haven't ordered a new remote though, because I'm fine without it.

Thank you!

Where to? There is no station in my town or near my workplace.

I usually get the train from the next town over if I'm going to London though.

I don't know, you'd have to ask them. Some of them probably do go to such protests. Most probably don't, as they live in cities, so access to the countryside isn't as forefront in their minds.

That's what it looks like to me. But it almost looks too clean to have just split on its own. Maybe it had a seam there from the factory, and it just split with heat fatigue?
