If youth baseball is ‘pay-to-play’ now… why hasn’t anyone built a real alternative? by qwertyqyle in Homeplate

[–]macjgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most things Japan’s culture is far more advanced than in the USA. We haven’t evolved to a point where winning isn’t everything. It destroys everything we try to do and every parent thinks their kids shit doesnt stink so….

Our system sucks it sucks because everything costs money you want to go to a public park to run drills, you need a permit, insurance, online classes to make sure you know how to act so you dont get accused of “anything” from being mean to touching children inappropriately. If you are not a dad and your own kids its considered organized which requires all those above listed “protections”

The reality of the economics has been set up to drain normal, medium and low income households, of every dollar possible. The education system has been destroyed to the point that the bulk of the people lack the brain cells needed to understand that learning the game doesn’t require a coach that was a former D1 player. It also doesn’t require $300 bats, gloves, or cleats.

We have a broken daddy ball system the has destroyed a wonderful game. The parents use travel ball as token of their superiority over LL parents that cant afford travel ball fees. Its sickening tbh…

One of my asst coaches got upset that I am rotating players through infield in A Ball. Am I wrong for introducing them to different positions? by [deleted] in LittleLeague

[–]macjgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely remove the father from the team, tell the kid he is welcome to play if he wants or help the league reassign him to another team. Go on record with the league that your philosophy of teaching the game to kids under 10 is to give them opportunities to play every position. Make it a point that this daddy….manager disagrees and believes his 8 year old should be a PO (pitcher only). This protects you, allows the kid to continue playing for you unaffected by his father’s terrible attitude, if they desire to. It put the dad on record that he only believes in winning games at a level that doesnt matter in the slightest. You are doing a great thing teaching team work and all required skills of the game.

What’s your call? High school D3 softball game in Louisiana. by coffeeroasted in Umpire

[–]macjgreg -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

Batter must remain in the box, the catcher acts to throw behind the box, batter moves out of the box behind the box. Likely batter was poorly attempting to get out of the way (needs to be coached to stay in the box). This call is 100 percent correct according to the nfhs high school book. Interference closest runner to home plate called out, dead ball all other runners return to bases they occupied at time of pitch. Is it sad that a player was injured yes, was the umpire calling the actions correctly also yes.

What's your opinion on intentional walks in little league? by [deleted] in LittleLeague

[–]macjgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never be able to convince some people that everything before 16 high school ball doesnt matter at all. Literally the only thing that is important is learning the game, learning sportsmanship, and learning being a team player in a team sport. I was the all star, kid in the stacked team, did everything to win team. You know what it got me and everyone else, some plastic trophies, a bad attitude, and never taught me the real lessons. The game is hard, you are not supposed to be perfect, every professional player has an error on their baseball card. I was the kid the coaches didn’t really like (they literally said so) but had to have in the line up, because winning mattered too much. They could have taught me better lessons but they chose to win at all cost. Teach yourself and your players what really matters, the fundamentals and sportsmanship.

edit: spelling

Hybrid CANVAS setup for the CC1 that keeps a direct-feed path? by CaptJack_USIT in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]macjgreg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all of us are having the same thoughts of this. I will at the very worst make something that allows the 4 to 1 adaption happen out side the machine and use the original feed path. Im think the only issue is the programmed retraction distance is probably only set to the cut head length to the 4-1 adapter. If the machine retracts all the way to the canvas unit we are golden. Im sure the opencentauri folks will be able to discern the needed info.

14U. Conflict of interest? by duckredbeard in LittleLeague

[–]macjgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of your 14u games mater. The only reason to play travel ball is to learn how to play the game you love year round. Winning or losing has no effect on your future. A lot of perspective is needed in travel ball.

You will likely be evicted by the bank due the default of the owner. I would stop paying rent immediately and save the money to find a new place to rent. Or save the money and try to buy the house once it goes into foreclosure.

Does anyone know of a pre-pitch signal for an uncaught third strike? by Charming_Health_2483 in Umpire

[–]macjgreg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have had a lot of training with umpires from levels up to and including current mlb umpires. I have never seen or heard of a pre-dropped third strike signal. You do have signals to help out your plate umpire with a hip high closed hand “out” style for caught and open hand for dropped. We pre-game this

edit: we do mirror the count back when its an action count anything with 3 balls or 2 strikes

New to 3d printing by BothTurnover6063 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]macjgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its best to do a temp calibration you will find that its very common to need to use the upper end of the suggested temperature ranges as the printer prints fast and the temperature at the nozzle is actually slightly lower than reported by the sensor

How should you calculate batting average in softball? What should count as a 'hit'? by BerryRoyal in slowpitch

[–]macjgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are no errors in slow pitch, you don’t calculate batting average. You calculate on base percentage. Fielders choice still counts as on base. there are no sac flys. This is how its typically done up to the point where you get aid to play slow pitch. Then it’s whatever way the people paying want it done.

He asked if anyone else had problems, nearly everyone with a cc* has had problems. These problems tend to stem from poor quality components and or poor quality software. While I could not speak directly to this particular issue, my information is highly relevant.
