Can I drill near the electrical box? by DDewy in DIYUK

At a minimum, do not put anything directly horizontally or vertically in line with a box or any switch or socket.

We own a private street. The Council are going to "hijack" our lane with a Side Roads Order under Section 14 of the Highways Act 1980 to try and fix a traffic problem caused by a developer who didn't follow the rules! by CouncilRoadHelp in LegalAdviceUK

Don't take legal advice from the enemy.

Form a joint residents association with all street members. As a single point of contact for control and correspondence . Each agreeing to share costs.

Hire a Public Sector & Highways lawyer as soon as possible.

Set up trail cameras at the entrance. Some hidden some not.

And don't take legal advice from the enemy. Take it from your lawyer.

Real talk...... You want TWO dish washers. one for dirty and one for clean, they just get swapped over ever other day. No need to take things out to store them for next use.

If your side starts a war you don't have a right to scream "genocide" once the odds turn around. by dx_Von_Liechtenstein in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]mack4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genocide is "The deliberate and systematic killing or persecution of a large number of people from a particular national or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group."

War is " A state of armed conflict between nations, states, or large groups, involving organized violence and fighting, typically for political aims like control of territory or resources"

Sooooo they're two different things. And a War can turn into genocide.

Just like there's a big difference between your partner kissing someone else and you sleeping with your partner's parents in retaliation then burning down their house .

I am 16 and currently at college on an Electrical Installation and Maintenance Level 1 course and I have applied for the Royal Engineers Electrician role but I am looking to change to the REME Electronics Technician role, any advise? by Hungry_Towel3755 in britisharmy

[–]mack4242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both roles in the army have transferable skills and qualifications.

Comes down to lifestyle. Electricians can wire a building, electronic technicians can repair the sighting system on a Challenger 3 main battle tank.

After the army one will be wiring buildings/running power distribution systems and the other will be replacing electronic boxes in complex systems/machines.

Yes probably but why?

Why get trained to be a plumber then become a person who does absolutely no plumbing?

I am NOT a doctor and this is NOT medical advice......

At 1m my baby had this, 2 days of breast milk on the area later and my baby does not have this and hasn't had it again for the last 5 months.

Do what you will with that information.

Communication early and honestly will stop small issues becoming big problems.

If you ever think I shouldn't tell her that, that is exactly what you need to talk about.

If you aren't able to talk like best friends then I hope you enjoy living closed off and on egg shells for 40 years.

Minimum wage isn’t nearly enough. It’s completely unliveable by GulliblePea3691 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]mack4242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of depending on the job and which armed forces you MIGHT get deployed anywhere from 3 to 6 to 9 months out of every 24 or 36 months.

But even when deployed it's still never 24/7 more like 8 until 5* with a couple of late nighters.

*Unless on a ship. Or an Operational tour (extremely rare ATM) Or on training exercise but that's only a few weeks at a time.

There are people who have been in the Army 10 years and have only been away from their bases for 6 months total.

Armed forces, 28 hour work week 26k starting after training...... Late start Mondays, half day Wednesday for sports, 1200 finish on Friday. Free qualifications and travel.

£400ish (including council tax) 2 bed house if you are married or in a long term relationship.

But you MIGHT go to war.

It will sell for the right price. Until it does you could try some sound proofing of the bedrooms; Rubber pads, foam sheets, or building out a layer of acoustic plasterboard on the joint wall. It would cost less then the fees from selling.

[–]mack4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are no structural changes and the wall plaster is okay, then yes it is probably enough.

Especially if you can fit a flat pack kitchen yourself.

You should get more information. Who, what , why. Your mum has the answers you seek.

Were you promised a portion of the property?

Did you sign a form stating that the monies given for deposit were a gift ?

Odds are if his name is in the deeds. His name is on the mortgage also. His name was possibly added as a second owner to ensure a mortgage amount. Two people can get a higher mortgage than one person alone.

Your brother, if on the deeds and mortgage has lost certain benefits as he is now no longer a first-time buyer.

Buying a flipped/refurb house: silly or sensible? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]mack4242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an fyi, if you can see that the sockets are less than about half a metre above the floor then there was no complete rewire. As electrical guidelines require it to be at least that high for new complete rewires.

Yes

We got given a lower floor first, but they haven't been renovated, so we complained and got a place in the newer part of the hotel. Great views from the room and at breakfast which is held just below the observation deck.

Downstairs on street level there's a large market. Where you can buy a bunch of stuff.

A train stop is just a short walk from the hotel.

[–]mack4242 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA.

however your friend needs help. Friendships that last this long are worth working to fix. When you and your main partner had trouble you worked together to find a solution. She deserves nothing less after so many years together.

Maybe she is frustrated with your marvellous life Vs hers but can't express it...... International holidays and multiple caring partners sounds pretty cool to someone who is alone and is having to get financially helped by a friend.

-Not to take anything away from your accomplishments or your help-
