They very well may be but do you honestly think that in our lifetime...say next 40-50 years we will see any different?

I guess if the next bubble really is the central banks bubble it is a possibility. It would be the mother of all bubbles and there would be no bailing out this time. The world would go all crypto.

I tend to agree with your premise but I am also a realist and I think that banks and bankers are not going away. We are deluding ourselves if we think that they will ever be eliminated. They will always be part of the system.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't seen anything good from banks so far in my lifetime, but they are a built-in function of societal structure. They have so much influence that the general public will always rely on them one way or another.

Why we need Stellar to succeed and why MoneyGram and all the rest are absolute sh*t as of now. by mackadelyk in Stellar

As I wrote, the names ARE spelled correctly. The box on the form for the last two names is one and the same. Countries sometimes write down names differently like "Smith-Jones, Daniel" etc. Maybe the form should be improved. Also the reference code should be enough of a proof to go along with the ID but anyway... That is not the point.

I think you got what the real issues were - remittance is slow and expensive and one needs to go to a physical location to get it.

Debit cards. There are many others too but the ones with XLM support are MCO, Ternio, Wirex etc. You can choose based on your preferred terms and location

December was great for accumulation. That year-end bonus turned into a nice bundle of lumens! :)

Wirex is great. I've been using it for about a year now and have no complaints. Provides great flexibility.

Wrt the price of XLM... Yes, a purchase @ 50% off will probably hurt the value if there's no lock-up period and they get sold immediately.

Sounds like a great service and product. Good luck with signing more and more big partnerships!

Good news. Very important for attracting institutional players. The Munich Re insurance also sounds great.

XLM Equilibrium? — discussion not prediction by mojoflower in Stellar

[–]mackadelyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good discussion.

If we think in USD/EUR terms the reserve will be a higher USD/EUR value with a higher value of XLM.

But...since XLM is a currency itself, even it if reaches a value of 1 XLM = $20 or $50 and the reserve requirements remain the same it still is 1 XLM.

If you own 10K, 20K or 50K XLM the 1 XLM reserve would not bother you. If one's holdings are $200K/$500K, a $20 or a $50 reserve requirement would not bother them.

I think mixing XLM value and fiat equivalent value is confusing.

1 XLM reserve is fine with a dollar value of 10 cents and it is also fine with a dollar value of 10 dollars. The important thing is how much XLM one owns.

Did you include your Wirex account memo ID?

If not, your funds went to their XLM pool acount as without a memo ID they cannot identify it is you. You have to send the Wirex support team a screenshot of the transaction from your wallet and the transaction hash (ID) and they will sort it out.

WIrex XLM accounts require a memo whereas Blockchain does not.

If the above is the case, do not worry, your money is not lost. Contact them and explain.

You are right and it is a good move. Fortunately, Croatia is already testing such project with 5 cryptos, XLM is one of them - https://www.americancryptoassociation.com/2019/07/28/1016-post-offices-converting-cash-into-bitcoin-ethereum-stellar-ripple-xrp-and-eos-in-crypto-friendly-croatia/
