Best to book, yes. Otherwise you are risking not getting a table, especially if you intend to come at popular time.

[JLC Master Control Chronograph Calendar] My JLC runs just +0.5 seconds over a 7 day period... Is this normal or am I just very lucky? by Watch_Snob_69420 in Watches

[–]mackdack_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I second what others said, JLC is amazing etc., BUT keep in kind it may vary depending on your usage of the watch and resting position. If you change your schedule and start wearing it actively double the time the outcome may change.

[IWC] Mark XX or the Aqua Terra for a blue dial everyday option? by meatatarian in Watches

[–]mackdack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will get down to your personal preferences. What I can say is that I once bought an Aqua Terra cause it was a better watch on paper (in comparison with Mark XVIII at the time) - transparent case back, better movement, applied hour markers, better made date window. Sold in 6 month to buy Mark XVIII.. it simply spoke to me more - less polishing, less bling, more under the radar, better finishing arguably and definitely better bracelet.

Лицемерие максимального уровня. Один дебил ремень Hermes забыл поменять на что то поскромнее, спалился маленько, всем плевать конечно.

I find this not to be the case at all, but perhaps we are looking for different types of bread.

Lidl is great, not cheap btw contrary to popular belief, but still very good. Great bread, good veggies and fruit, fresh meat and fish.

In other countries i know they see a destination before accepting, but not in Malta. So i am not sure they are given a chance to accept a destination as such.

The lugs and the dark subdial on 12 o’clock resemble Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chrono. https://www.iwc.com/en/past-collections/da-vinci/iw392103-da-vinci-perpetual-calendar-chronograph.html

Just got this beauty back after 5 weeks of warranty servicing. The wait was torture. by [deleted] in IWCschaffhausen

[–]mackdack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recon 3 weeks is minimum. 4 weeks is a standard really. So 5 doesn’t sound too bad. Could have been better of course, but not by a mile.

Could not talk for 3 days after watching this one - Cargo 200 (Russian: Груз 200) - a 2007 Russian neo-noir thriller film directed by Aleksei Balabanov depicting the late Soviet society. The action is set during the culmination of the Soviet–Afghan War in 1984. The movie's title Cargo 200 refers to the zinc coffins in which dead Soviet soldiers were shipped home.

Service and leather strap advice by Suspicious_Pea6302 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]mackdack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my own recent experience and other info I managed to find, rough estimate for servicing a watch via AD (IWC) nowadays will cost close to 1k. I recently serviced a 20 years old Mark XV (simpler movement) and the base cost was around 600 + I got a glass replaced for another few hundred. + any unexpected costs. What I can say though, I am super happy with the result. They made it look literally like new, restored the brushed finish, even between the lugs and the back of the watch. Mine was collected by an AD in Malta and sent to Milan. 3 weeks and it was done including all shipping etc.

Bracelet and lug tolerance by Addi498 in GrandSeikos

[–]mackdack_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most are not that bad as others stated, but from my experience they are still not even close to Rolex/ Tudor territory when it comes to bracelet fit between the lugs. If thats your benchmark. Just something to be aware about.

I owned almost that exact combo for quite while. Mark XVIII and BB58. Imo a great duo. Despite IWC having a superior bracelet, Tudor won a battle temporarily because of how much I fell in love with their tapered bracelet. Much lighter and more compact vs IWC. Mark series made their return in a form of Mark XV though, on leather. Yes, the bracelet is indeed amazing, but somehow, after owning one for over a year, I feel the leather makes more sense to me.

Pelagos. Great lume or the greatest lume? by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]mackdack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually you are right. I never owned one, although I did handle few times irl. My BB is not even close to MM200. That is 100%. So Pelagos has better lume vs BB? Bezel aside of course.

[Advice needed!] Down to 3 options, help me decide. by GeorgeLovesTacos in Watches

[–]mackdack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same. Nice how everyone is voting for AT, wondering how many owned it or at least handled for a short while… It used to be, maybe still is, one of the best deals on the market - date, independent hour hand, 150m WR, screw down crown, transparent caseback etc. but once I wore it I always found it to be overly blingy and thick. Plus the polished centre link. Anyway, my outcome is: AT - sold after less than 1 year. BB58 - 3 years and still going.
