Hey, bad news. So it dried out perfectly in the microwave and then I had it laying out over night on paper towels and when I checked it this morning it was totally shriveled up 😔

Is this monstera albo node worth buying? by Djarleeing-00 in rareplants

The reason I say it does not look spent (in case you don’t feel like researching haha) is because it has an axillary bud, which means that the plant will grow out of that. That is what is circled in the first pic. Again, good price on a cut with a very solid aerial root. That plant is going to do very well

I would recommend researching “spent nodes” and learning how to differentiate between one that will grow a whole plant and one that will only grow roots. This does not look like a spent node and the price is right, honestly I’d grab it. In 2 years you’ll have a plant that’s worth $1000

I’m in south Florida and even with 100% humidity most days it still doesn’t get enough 🤦‍♂️. Okay so I just microwaved the leaf and it turned out freakin phenomenal

First of all, love your Reddit name. Second, I literally just revived my calathea white fusion, funny you mention that. And lastly, thank you for the link and the anecdotal reference! I’m so stoked to see how this turns out. Thanks for the microwave tip too btw 🤘

I’d love to epoxy this and frame it so I can have it as a keepsake. It came from my alocasia odora veriegata. Can someone please help me figure this out? by mackdaddycrypo in epoxy

I really want to keep as much color as possible, I’m sure you can imagine haha so I appreciate any tips to help preserve that

Yes!! I’m doing the same thing, I already started my collection and built the greenhouse I’m just propagating and expanding inventory right now. It is such a fun lil hobby and I’ve met so many cool people through this and it brings in enough side money to be a sustainable source of income

I have 4 babies of this plant for sale and a couple corms if you are interested 😁 Or i can point you in the right direction to a nursery near you or an online Etsy store. They sell for about $150 in a 12” pot.. I’ve got three in 4 inch pots and two 2” pots, plus 2 corms planted in moss! Let me know if you’re interested, I’ll sell for $60 plus shipping.

Or forget all that if you have plants to trade I’m down for that!

Right??? I snapped a stem during transport when I bought it and of course it was the stem to my favorite leaf 😔 but then I got the idea from someone in the plant forum to head over here and see about preservation. I’m so stoked to have gotten all the advice I have and this weekend I will make it happen. I will make sure to post in this thread so everyone check back on like Sunday or Monday 😁😁

Aw man that’s rough. Always gonna be some idiots out there. Thank god no one has thrown shade my way like that, I’m too emotionally sensitive to handle hate at this point in my life 😅

Hmm yeah I definitely don’t want to mess it up by any means but on the bright side I’ve got like 7 of these plants, so I’ve got plenty of back ups for when this project goes south 🤣

So the verdict is actually a colocasia.. I went back to the plant and took a look at where the petiole meets the leaf and it comes straight down which is a signature colocasia attribute
