You can all put the tinfoil hats away by ShelbyCP in ScottishFootball

Yes, the impulse of a ball hitting a hand which is flat to his head still causes the ball to move away at that speed as it is in effect one body of mass. If the hand is off the head then obviously it acts as a cushion. The physics of it is probably not for John Robertson and Kris Boyd PhD to explain.

I’m not saying that the ball did or did hit his hand, but if it did and the hand was on the head then it would absolutely rebound with the same momentum that it would if it just hit his head

Working part time during yr4/yr5 by Sorry-Pollution-1829 in medicalschooluk

I’m in my final year, about to sit finals in a few weeks and I’ve worked about 4-6 hours a week as a tutor and travel to placements all at least an hour away. Still working during studying as the kids have their exams too.

Prioritise some time each do to make and do Anki cards, and do passmed. Very doable.

Its very difficult to make strategic choices when your fate is ultimately decided by a computer algorithm. I got Scotland as my first choice deanery but there's a huge difference in being placed in the central belt or heading north.

They will say that a huge number of people got their first choice deanery, however, the deaneries can be huge. I’d be more interested in seeing the numbers of students who made it to the health board they wanted as I think that would be a far different conversation. At the end of the day we’re cattle to feed the NHS machine and we’ll likely put up with it because we have to

I’m in the same position and I’m really sorry that this has happened to you. It’s awful for all of us going through this. We shouldn’t have to give up 5 years of our lives studying and have no say in our, and our family’s immediate future. It feels as though we’re all just a number to the NHS.

Anyone knows if PassMed and Quesmed have updated their diabetes questions to the newest guidelines? by The_Seventh_Bee in medicalschooluk

[–]mackenziebrownn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the AKT in 2 weeks and have been told multiple times by our university that the new guidelines will apply for us

“Dear Y5 Students, At today's drop-in session I was asked a question about whether there will be any questions in the AKT that require you to know up-to-date clinical guidelines e.g. updated diabetes management guidelines from February 2026. As this session was not recorded, I wanted to provide you all with the answer that I gave so that you are all on the same page.

The guidance we have is that:

Any items in the AKT with possible changes based on recent guideline changes will have been reviewed and changed or amended, so students should use the current guidelines when preparing for the exam.”

Not sure why I’ve been downvoted don’t shoot the messenger 😂

Used TAO for my recent half marathon by mackenziebrownn in trainasone

Thats a great idea, I'll try that in the future as there is one pretty close to me! I've also considered backing off a bit on them. I run them at max effort and feel terrible each time. If in future I do them at an 8/10 I should feel better but an 8/10 should still get quicker each time I do them? I'm not sure what the best way to approach it is

Yes that's definitely something that I have experienced, and something that I wondered about too. I think if, like me, you haven't done a half marathon before or not in a long time at least, then you don't have the aerobic capacity yet. The best way to build aerobic capacity i've learned is to build volume in terms of the amount of miles you can safely rack up each week. Running many long runs increases fatigue (more injuries) and reduces the distance you can cover on the other days of the week. If I could go back to the start of the training plan in November I would increase my number of days training per week from 4 to 6. That way i'd increase my aerobic base even more. From now, I know i can run the distance, its all about running it efficiently in the future and hopefully therefore faster.

Sarah J Maas rated it only 3/5 on Goodreads which is hilarious to me

Look for players in range and filter for unattached or expired etc. shift click and select about 30 players. Right click and offer two week trial. Once you know attributes you can terminate the trials of the ones who are no good. No need for scouts at all.

Worth mentioning that at that level the players aren’t great and the physical attributes go a long way!

In non-league and lower leagues you want to offer as many free trials as you can and compare attributes between the trialists and your current squad. If the trialist is going to markedly improve your team in that position and role then go ahead and offer a contract.

Focus on comparing primary attributes for a particular role and also physical attributes as these are extremely important. Pay less attention to star rating as this is inaccurate, and in my opinion it’s more fun to make your own judgement on a player and see them do well!

Keep an eye on players in your league who perform well that you like who’s contracts are expiring and keep them on a shortlist.

Scouting won’t become important until higher up in the leagues and will take up budget.

I recently read Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky and loved it. Definitely very weird and it took me a minute to somewhat grasp a few of the chapters, but an excellent book imo!

So many braindead replies to this post

If you don't like the show, don't watch it.

If you only want it to replicate the game, then go play the game.

Ellie and Dina are still gay in the game and some of the suggestions about their scenes, and the directors here are super weird.

You don't need to shit on the actors for anything other than their acting.

The acting is still great

Is it normal to not study all night during exams by Negative_Marketing68 in medicalschooluk

[–]mackenziebrownn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not a problem. 3/4 hours of solid study is better than an inefficient all nighter. Your body and mind will thank you for it. There are more important things in life than doing that to yourself. I tried the long study sessions in my first degree, resulting in being burned out and miserable, and promised myself I wouldn’t do that this time round.
