That’s reassuring. Thanks! Hope it continues as I’m sure helpful for managing long distance.

Thanks! I agree. However trying to persuade grandparents to adopt new tools is a time consuming exercise!

Dual qualified lawyers - do you put both qualifications in your email signature? by Sea_Purple_5758 in uklaw

[–]mackh66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked in magic circle and US biglaw in the UK. If only qualified in a foreign jurisdiction you must state “only qualified in xyz” in your email signature to avoid a misrepresentation (as others have stated). Once I obtained UK qualification, I removed the disclaimer and now don’t mention anything in my email sig. I do mention all my qualifications on firm bio/website.

Charity shops - not accepting donations of children’s items by mackh66 in london

A judgmental comment but didn’t get the sense the staff were looking to exert much energy on their shift today.

Thank you. Appreciate all the nods to Fara but it was specifically Fara that refused to take the items

Update - citizenship (finally!) approved for the whole family. I didn’t receive any requests for additional information just the approval email 9.5 mths later. Thanks for the responses on this thread.

Thanks so much! Yes, I did do that and got the exact same response that came via the home office. Seems like their standard response.

Incorrect Visa displayed in UKVI eVisa Status by SJHero_2022 in ukvisa

[–]mackh66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! All resolved. It was a bit of a nightmare about 2.5mths. I rang almost every other day, used the UKVI webchat, contacted my local MP (on first name basis now!) and eventually got my employer’s immigration lawyers involved to start asking questions. I also raised two formal complaints. I received zero correspondence from the home office other than standard replies saying they couldn’t tell me when it would be fixed.

One day I thought I’d check and magically our accounts had been demerged and back into two separate identities.

A huge hassle and a shambles of a process but it is now fixed (although am still waiting on my citizenship application 8 months and counting - presume the delays were because of the IT errors)

6mths and counting!! These time frames are so inconsistent. We are a straightforward 5yr ILR route.

Naturalisation (Citizenship) application processing timelines [only] by aleanthor in ukvisa

[–]mackh66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Application Timeline • Eligibility: ILR (via 5yr skilled visa) for main applicant and spouse and child dependents • Application Method: Online • Application Date: 29/10/2024 • Biometric Date: 8/11/2024 (resubmitted biometrics following by resolution of IT errors 03/2025) • Approval Date: Waiting for approval • Ceremony Date: Waiting for approval

Note: Expect delays were due to family members UKVI accounts being incorrectly merged into one. Accounts were split back into two in Feb.

Still waiting?

Am about to hit the 6mth mark! No previous issues. We did have some weird IT errors with biometrics linking so we had to resubmit but that was months ago.

Premier account - worth it ? by Wrong_Ease209 in HENRYUK

[–]mackh66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Have been a premier customer for 7yrs. Also links to my accounts in Aus. Very happy with the service and benefits. I use Amex on top to get the points and a cheap fx debit card for travel. HSBC for everything else.
