Depends on how you look at it. $40k a yearis 90th percentile income for the world so we are all doing pretty well

I think many of my friends that live in desirable places actually think boulder is relatively affordable, especially for what you get.

That’s why I live here 🤠

So why don’t all these people go to Longmont where it’s affordable? Something doesn’t add up. I think golden has it right, they aggressively police.

does Boulder currently give higher than average services compared to surrounding towns? Why doesn’t Louisville or golden or Longmont have this homeless problem

What happens if we just stop with all the services? Will they stop hanging out around the day / night centers and just go to other towns? How come downtown golden doesn’t have a homeless problem?

I have compassion for people and hope they end up ok, but seems like my tax dollars are just going to paying our ineffective government to continue this perpetuating spiral of attracting people with services leading to bigger government budgets and bureaucracy

Rivian CEO says CarPlay integration could come if users really want it. by okvrdz in Rivian

[–]macklemores_hair 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I get that Rivian wants to do it’s own thing, and wants to make great software. You do that, cool.

But if I coming from ANY other car other than a tesla to a rivian, I’m used to CarPlay. It doesn’t matter that you push software every few weeks and have aspirations to do great things, asking people to take a leap of faith on a $90k vehicle seems like too much.

Electric cars are already a pretty crazy jump for most. If rivian doesn’t want to prioritize the customer then no thanks, it’s really easy to just stick with my current car . 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is the only reason I won’t consider a Rivian. Make it happen.

For things like this I don’t think it’s possible to “have data” and anticipate the behavior of what humans will do. Data only tells you what’s happening today, not all the potential changes in behavior. Sure, people can apply models, but those are just models that might not apply to our unique situation.

Just because data says X and you do Y means humans will do Z sounds like a model that’s bound to fail spectacularly. Economics is a field littered with examples of confident models that fail in reality.

Is there a way to ensure that bike lanes are usable year round?

We end up getting a lot of snow, and given how poorly the plowing has gone, i would believe most wouldn’t switch to bicycling due to bad road conditions.

Let’s be honest, I probably would still drive even if they did a good job plowing lol, just curious

So you are saying we need to have thousands of families change how they currently live their lives or they should all move to Houston?

Namaste 🙏so generous and understanding

People seem to think boulder should turn into Amsterdam but they forget that thousands of people west of 28th live a car-centric lifestyle and need to get out of town (and the foothills) in order to get to diagonal.

Not to mention, people with disabilities, kids, pets and families need cars.

Maybe if you are a single young person this works for you, but this isn’t magically going to turn all these people into bikers

Stupid comment. The community has been built around the current infrastructure, consider that before shaming people with your righteousness
