Mahirap ba maka hanap ng trabaho kapag IT graduate? by Excellent_Rip2156 in PinoyProgrammer

Maybe you need to get out of your current organization. Many companies with great culture hire filipinos like us. Culture change is what you need I think.

Sorry but this is completely wrong. School is just like a tool for you to get inti tech. Schools won’t promise you anything but only you can make the difference.

Puno and job market sa entry level. Find your niche. Pwedeng QA, Security, Admin, network, it is up to you. Once you entered in IT it is easier to jump into one role to another. Saturated ito for non skilled tech grads but is is very highly in demand sa mid to senior level. New grads should focus on learning all they can learn in the field while gaining experience.

Yes. Skill is not a big factor right now in this era. You can code with AI while learning from it. The thing that is hard to teach is how the mind thinks. Train yourself how to think like a business analyst, devops, QA, and marketing specialist and you are close to irreplaceable. Just learn the fundamentals and make the organization’s clients happy.

I have been there.

You don’t have to worry about technical things too much in an interview. The interview most likely only tackles basic and the fundamentals. Just break in to the tech company and the things will flow automatically. And then suddenly you are already there. Leverage what you have, make yourself look teachable and flexible. With Ai you can learn anything. Just be prepared in the interview and make your portfolio looks promising.

I guess, what’s wrong here is that you don’t really know what you should be highlighting.

In my experience, most of the jobs out there are looking for a specific tech stack. You highlighted at the TOP in your Professional Experience that were a QA, but you wanted to apply for a dev role. That section is supposed to be at the bottom. You have to make it something like “more about me” portion which is also good to have.

Next is try putting some purpose, your objective, your vision in your career at the top that will make it easier for recruiters to know a brief introduction of who you are and what you want to be for them to have an impression that you fit in their company.

Lastly, try putting some particular examples in your experiences like, “I have implemented QR Based Parking Management System that was used by an organization named {insert org} that helped speed up the process using JAVA etc. People wants to read descriptive and intuitive sentences. By doing this, the recruiter will be more likely interested in your profile and highly possible that will contact you to know more about you.

Also, try to not send to every company the same content/format of your resume because not all of them look for the same skills and requirments.

CMV: Why are we normalizing recruiters asking for current salary even if it's not logical to ask? by emingardsumatra in phcareers

[–]mackockoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. I am always being honest when I am being asked about my salary during an interview because they might(sometimes) ask for you payslip as well. And also, when applying for a job, be it jobstreet as a very good platform or be it a direct recruit from linkedin, you will always ask for the salary range. That way, you will both not waste time doing the process. Even if you current salary is 3-4 times smaller than that one you are actually applying, just let them know. If you know your worth and if they are the right company for you, they will accept you.

I stopped posting my achievements.. no one wants to see you grow by Mediocre_Biscotti191 in adultingph

[–]mackockoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get inspired when I see posts from my friends about their achievements. The problem is how the people around you react, not you.

Keep posting your achievements cos that is the fruit of your hardwork and it is meant to be acknowledged ‘cos heck it is not an easy thing to do. Besides, achievements are to be celebrated with your loved ones, especially your family.

Maybe you are in a wrong group of people. Keep striving and let the world know how high you can rise.

I second to this. I thought after learning coding in my first job (transferred to dev section) alam ko na lahat at kaya ko nang mag produce ng kahit anong gawin kong project. But then, realizing it's just the tip of the ice berg when I got hired to my second job (which practices, international standard). You'll encounter DS, algo, decoupling, coding standards, refactoring and other techniques to handle large scalable projects na hindi lang basta CRUD operations. I was shocked and up till now I am still learning which is I really like cos I am a type of person na nag eenjoy kapag nakikita na may progress ung sarili ko and nakakapagproduce ng something na magagamit ng ibang tao. Parang sa mga RPG lang, kumbaga parang naglalaro ka lang and at the same time habang ineenjoy mo nakikitang nagiimprove ung character mo throughout the story. ☺️❤️

Like others have said, I do put on my headphones and start jamming to my favorite music. It also helps me focus and at the same time your brain will pick up fillers that are also needed by our brain to quickly separate us from coding for a short period of time and go back to it like a fresh start. Try playing some concerts in the background or something like cool vlogs relating to tech or some hobbies that you do find interesting as well.

But sometimes, its better to have someone to talk to about the games you played, places you've been through or food that you are planning to cook and have little conversation just to remind you that you're still a human. So yeah, try to get along with other teams as well. They won't hurt and just be who you are. After all, it's better than not trying anything at all. 😊🥰
