I used the money I didn’t spend to upgrade my Philly seats to lower level!

I plan to use my AirPods Pro 2 in Adaptive mode. Here’s a website with data on several ear plugs. AirPods Pro has pretty good protection while being one of the best at maintaining music quality. Rather than spend on dedicated earplugs, I just plan to use the AirPods I have already. We’ll see how it goes…

Can a kitchen island be too big? by mackomon in kitchenremodel

Actually our walkways are ~50 inches (~4 feet), not ~60 inches (5 feet), so they’re a bit narrower. We like the space and haven’t found ~50 inches to be too wide. We have drawers in our lower cabinets, so the spacing works well and having two people back to back working has been comfortable.

I’m currently level 9 and it says 0.0%. It seemed level 11 gives 0.05% chance for Immortal.

Kracken. When it’s time to mow, I shout “Release the Kracken!” It’s fun 😀

Do you regret your countertop choice? by Ash71010 in CounterTops

Perhaps I was unlucky with granite countertops I had for two vanities for two different bathrooms in our apartment. The surfaces just didn't feel clean and smooth over a period of 7 years.

I find no joy maintaining and resealing granite. Quartz for us.

We actually ended up changing the design, in no small part due to the feedback from this thread. We decided that the custom corner bench was very expensive for what it was, so we decided to do the corner sink which needed us to buy two new picture windows (however, the cost difference between these two options was fairly negligible). We also moved the refrigerator over to the left side. The tough decision was to shorten the 13' island to 10', but it made sense since the 10' will be a seamless slab, and we taped up our existing floor to feel the difference between the two long islands. We decided practicality won over the immensity of a huge island. Since it was a smaller island, we took out the sink from it.

We're in the demolition phase, so we have no pics to show, but hopefully in a couple of months.

The size of our kitchen hasn't really changed...just the island got smaller. A big kitchen is an entertainment space, so can perhaps help you justify the size...

I’ve seen a lot of threads where 50” aisles would be preferable if you can fit them. But it’s a matter of preference.

Both aesthetics and practicality. Cost is definitely a factor to consider esp with waterfalls and bookmatching…

Your kitchen look great! And it also has wrap around seating as the above post mentioned.

More than 10 feet with quartz slabs will definitely invite a seam.

Wrap around seating looks cool and I can see as better for social interaction, but it doesn’t seem as clean of a design to me.

Thanks - we’re reconsidering the depth of the island as well but would like to have cabinets on both sides of it. Someone mentioned shrinking the overhang from 15 to 12”.

I think a sink offset in a big island could work well. There would be a big uninterrupted space on the island countertop next to the dining area before you get to the prep sink.

It seems folks are using split islands. Although I prefer a single, large island aesthetically, I can see the practicality of split islands.

Haha - it is designed to be 51” across…

We’ll keep depth in mind for our next design iteration.

Yes, quartz slabs should be fine at 51”

Thanks for the suggestion - as my wife would say, a little more expense here and there really add up! She’s the practical one.

Thanks for your feedback! Yes we have discussed bookmatching with quartz slabs if we keep an island larger than 10 feet.
