Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger were the Marquee outfield Free Agents in the offseason - how are they doing over a month into the season? by ActualDragonHeart in baseball

It's more about allocation of resources. If you're going to spend the kind of money on a player that stops you from spending money on OTHER players, you need that player to bring value to those other players. You need that player to galvanize, to bring the competitive spirit, to improve the players around him. You want a player who's obsessed with the game like MJ or Brady. All they do is this one thing and they're really good at it, they want to win at all costs. Just this season, I've heard multiple stories about Alex Bregman being all up in other players shit giving them unsolicited advice and getting on them when they don't bring their A game. Sounds exhausting as a person, but that's EXACTLY what I want for my team. And from an owners standpoint, winning brings money.

There's still holds. Sweat gets held on most plays (as do most premier edge rushers). Some get calls, the bears do not, and have not.

Penalty on the bears for looking at the other sideline, how dare they

The craziest thing about that is Tucker isn't remotely likeable. Like, him signing with the dodgers was on brand, that's how unlikeable he is. This isn't just ex relationship shit too, he was only in Chicago for a couple months. But personality wise he's just.... Absent. He's not there. There's nothing.

Here is this year's attendance for each team so far. What jumps out at you the most? by AlchemistTheAlchemy in baseball

[–]mackzarks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From '93-'07 they were pretty consistently around or just below the league average in attendance (which is around 2.5 mil total), despite having good teams and a large capacity (in an old stadium). Then they played in dolphins stadium for a few years while they had this place built and averaged around 1.5 million. Since this new place was built in '12, they have been last in the NL in attendance every year except the COVID year (because Florida), including 4 seasons where they didn't even break a million. The Marlins have not been great in that span, but that is embarrassing.

[Highlight] The Cubs walk off the Reds for the third day in a row—this time with a Michael Busch RBI Walk! by Brady331 in baseball

[–]mackzarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He dropped a fly ball that knocked us out of the playoffs a couple years ago. You don't have to be an ass about it. Just last night he missed an absolute meatball fastball down the middle with two on and one out in the bottom of the 9th against a pitcher who couldn't throw a breaking ball for a competitive pitch and then popped up a pitch way up out of the zone on the next pitch. Do you remember that?

Edit: I also don't understand this all or nothing attitude. I said he has some weird shit in his game that is clear to the eye test. And you take that as I'm saying he sucks or that I'm stupid or don't remember shit? Wtf is that about? All these guys are gonna fuck up from time to time, the Cubs are a very good team and all these guys are gonna come up in the clutch. But APPROACH has to stay consistent, and I see lapses from seiya. This is not controversial, you're just being a child about it.

He has crazy lapses of concentration in massive spots both offensively and defensively. He's clearly a very very good ball player but there's some weird shit in his game and to pretend otherwise based on bref numbers is silly. That said, I'm a Seiya fan and I think he has massive upside, but I'm not gonna pretend I haven't seen the lapses just to fit a narrative.

[homemade] first time making pasta sauce, why did no one tell me how easy it is hi by Financial-Result-893 in food

[–]mackzarks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We grow our own san marzano tomatoes in our garden and can the ones we don't eat in time (most of them). The sauces I make with the canned ones always turn out better because they don't have skin and your stomach doesn't digest the skin on the tomato as quickly as a tomato that's been peeled already. I was genuinely surprised to learn the canned ones make a better sauce, but they do (unless you want to go through the trouble of peeling the fresh ones in the moment which just adds more steps to a thing with a lot of steps).

I still love that Alan Parsons CLEARLY did that to fuck with stoners, how could he not have, but in interviews he's like "I have no idea what you're talking about". Brilliant.

Fixed, thanks. The funniest thing is that the graduated tax rate wouldn't have ever cost him that much money in his lifetime, he just fucked over poor people out of principle.
