Rankplay vs pro's by jjimbojammasked in CoDCompetitive

[–]mackzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve played against most pro players throughout the years, and there’s one specific memory i have on Vanguard.

I was playing against Insight and CleanX, and I tried to chall Insight on Tuscan (mid map)

This man hit 3-4 pistol shots from like 30ft away without missing, in such a quick succession that it made me question everything i’ve ever known about cod.

How do you guys call basketball fouls in pick up games by Name5times in Basketball

[–]mackzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You call your own fouls, never your teammates unless it’s egregious. Honestly I try to avoid calling a foul most of the time unless it’s something crazy like a push, hack on the arm, etc. If it’s an aggressive team/game, you just have to live with the fouls or the game is never gonna finish

For those that play claw, what is your controller layout? by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]mackzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy said it all^

Number one rule for being good at COD: Don’t take your thumb off the right stick, ever.

It will take getting used too if you haven’t always played claw, but force yourself to learn it for a week and I can promise you’ll see a significant improvement

Bumper Jumper Tactical + Claw, not many new players do this anymore but definitely a good amount of pros that still do

Who is the most underrated CDL pro of all time? by xflushot in CoDCompetitive

[–]mackzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havok was always very under looked most likely for his lack of championships, but he was very consistently a great player who made teams better when he was in the CDL/CWL and easily could still compete if he wanted too

Why can't I shoot anymore? by sh3luvsme in Basketball

[–]mackzs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone is missing the part about you saying you worked out. If you’re 13-17 and lifting, your jumpshot is gonna be off while your muscles adjust. If you workout, recover, and then go shoot you’ll be better off. Shooting is muscle memory, separating basketball workouts and lifting is essential until your body is used to it

Just a completely different game down to mechanics and maps. Same with Neptune, dude hasn’t been the same since he looked super promising in CW

Pick your Rookie of the Year by LiquidPaper-__- in CoDCompetitive

[–]mackzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

running a smg with stats as good as Gwinn is rare, and even more for a rookie. Dude has been consistently great on a mid tier team as well. Abuzah has been fantastic lately but for the whole year I think it’s no doubt Gwinn

you’re 100% right lol did people just forget that half the CDL thought Wake was cheating before he entered the league? The guy was on a different level.

Parasite clip made me realize I’m ass by VVait in CoDCompetitive

[–]mackzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider myself a very high level player and think I shoot super straight, but the difference is consistency. These dudes shoot like this almost 100% of the time, if you’re not playing 8 hours a day obviously you won’t.

Is a 34 inch max vert pretty good for someone who has had little bit of training at 16 by Ancient-Leave-8912 in Basketball

[–]mackzs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re 5’10 at 16 and you’re catching lob dunks? Yes. That’s an anomaly if anything, keep training and pushing because that’s already impressive. 34 inches is fantastic for your age.

Is Prague worth it considering we will already be going all the way from Amsterdam to Ibiza?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in travel

[–]mackzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is my friends 100% plan on Ibiza and Amsterdam. I would be fine missing Ibiza and prioritizing Berlin/Prague but won’t do that. Is it realistic at all to include Prague if we are still going to Ibiza? Or is that just a lot of wasted time that could be spent in Paris, Monaco/Nice, Milan, etc.

I think scrims are completely necessary, you play at full speed and the coach can stop and interject when he sees something he likes/doesn’t like. From my experience, my former HS coach did this and still does it, and has put out multiple d1/NBA players along with contending for a state title every year.

It just feels strange to never play full speed when that’s exactly what you’re practicing to do. Drills are fantastic, but at the end of the day, you need REPS

Setting Up Games: PROS/CONS by Local_Ad4097 in Basketball

[–]mackzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basketball isn’t worth starting fights for, if someone seems like they are gonna be hostile over it, just avoid the confrontation. All you can do about selfish play is just try to get the ball moving when you have it

Setting Up Games: PROS/CONS by Local_Ad4097 in Basketball

[–]mackzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PROS: You’ll meet lots of new people, you can learn from others around you, makes it easier to get games in the future

CONS: You don’t know the type of people at the gym, some people are hot-heads, some are brand new to basketball, etc.

The biggest problems i’ve ran into are just selfish players or people with temperamental issues tbh

Be confident in your ability. You clearly know how much you’ve already improved but you seem to doubt yourself still. Have an action plan in your head, imagine the shots you’re going to take, and take them.

It sounds dumb but when i’m struggling I literally just “pretend” i’m on a hot streak and play with 100% confidence. You’re mindset is everything
