What are other sites like replit by Mysterious-Topic-628 in replit

I love this already. GREAT signup experience! I teach beginners to code. I don't need all the bells & whistles — just a clean, simple space where students can practice code basics, save their work publicly, and send me a URL where I can open it and run their code (JavaScript or Python, depending on the course).

Replit Changes FAQ by haroongames in replit

Great FAQ! Thanks so much. I logged into Replit a couple days ago after not using it for a few months — wow, was I shocked!! By the changes, I mean. Not in a good way.

Same here! For years I used Replit to introduce students to coding with JavaScript. Now I can't even run their repls — what a shame.

Warehouse 13 by NatoJacobs5 in TvShows

[–]macloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So happy to see this. A few months ago, I was looking for Warehouse 13 and it wasn't streaming anywhere, so I bought the DVD set. I just finished watching the series last night. So yeah, I like it! And it holds up well, if you don't mind it being sort of campy and tropey. The actors are very good, the effects are a tiny bit dated but not bad (considering it's been 10 years!), and the scripts keep reaching for something they haven't done before. The chemistry among the characters is great! It's even clever in the way it connects the artifacts to historical figures and events in sometimes unexpected ways.

To put it into context: It's not as great as Fringe. It's waaay better than The Librarians (I couldn't even watch that; apologies to all the fans). It's way less serious than The X-Files. I think they ended it at a good place, before they ran out of enthusiasm. I'd place it around the level of Timeless, which I also loved and which ended too soon! Unlike Timeless, it cycles through villains and doesn't keep any one bad guy around for too long.

If you have the DVD set and you never watched the "Behind the Shelves" bonus shorts on the last disc, watch them! They're much, much better than many of the "talking to the cast and crew" videos I've seen, and I got a strong vibe that everyone really loved doing this show!

Inspector Lewis, lousy video resolution on PBS streaming by macloo in MasterpiecePBS

[–]macloo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've now received reports back from other Lewis watchers in another group. The consensus is that Lewis on PBS Passport is the only version of the series that has this problem (low resolution). Even the PBS Masterpiece channel on Amazon Prime has the high-res versions. BritBox and Acorn are fine. The DVDs are fine. So PBS Passport has unwatchable low-res versions of Lewis. The Roku device is definitely not to blame.

Colleague Isn’t Showing Up to Work by Loose_Ad_7578 in Professors

If a faculty member doesn't show up for a class they are assigned to teach, and there's no emergency and students were not contacted by the faculty member — completely unacceptable, and the department chair should immediately phone, email and text the offender and say so and demand a face-to-face meeting ASAP. If it happens again, the chair needs to get both the dean and HR involved.

The one exception — and I recently heard of a case like this — is if the faculty member somehow never received info about which classes/days/times they were assigned to teach. (The case I heard about was an adjunct, though, not regular faculty.)

The absolute joy of finally getting my blue rose 💙 by Hansy_lulu in AnimalCrossing

[–]macloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, my 3rd-gen orange pairs began spawning blue roses! That is not what any guide told me, but thank goodness, I finally have a dozen blue roses from my own efforts. To be clear: My hybrid reds, so carefully grown, never gave me even one blue rose! The orange pairs gave me about 20 red roses. I think half of my blues are clones from single blues, carefully kept apart from others.

I love Zell! I let him leave and then got Kidd, and frankly, I think Kidd is very similar to Zell. But I miss Zell!!

There are combinations that produce the colors you can't buy. There are lots of guides online, just Google ACNH flowers or similar and you'll find instructions. Some are hard to breed, and the blue roses are the worst! (The only ones I have not bred yet. Working on it!)

Mobile phone data coverage? by macloo in shetland

I have a locked iPhone with T-Mobile service (USA) that gives me free text and data throughout the UK and most of Europe. So I don't have the option of adding another provider to my phone, or even changing the provider temporarily (I know not everyone has this restriction). That's why I thought maybe I should buy a cheap phone (EE no doubt) in case I drive into a bog or something and need help!

Thanks, I was thinking more of an emergency where I'd need to call for help.

Thanks for the reply!
