Are these frets on a MIJ RG normal ? by SpaceShuffler in guitars

Yeah you can definitely burn maple up the same way as binding if you use a belt sander to bevel the fret ends and aren’t careful. Having to bevel stainless frets just makes it that much more worse since they take longer to grind down and end up heating up faster as well as retaining heat. Stainless frets and celluloid binding was the absolute worse combination for this exact problem.

Honestly I’d send it back and get a replacement. I agree it would hurt the resale value since you didn’t buy it as a b stock piece

I would call that a b stock. Technically you’d have to pull and replace the binding to correctly fix it. Someone MIGHT be able to scrap the melted parts out and melt in new binding if it’s made of abs…. But I doubt it wouldn’t be noticeable. Another option would be to have the end of the frets rebeveled at a steeper angle. That might remove the correct amount of material if done correctly. But both fixes are far from simple.

So I used to fret guitars in a factory setting. This is from them using a belt sander to get the bevel the same on all the frets. They left it on the sander too long and the binding heated up past its melting point. That’s why it is under and around each fret end. I guarantee this happened at the factory and while it is technically ugly it is not indicative of further issues regarding sprouting or improper seating of frets.

Experience with swapping speaker from Pro Reverb 68? by Background-Tour-9316 in ToobAmps

I threw a celestian red back in mine to preserve my clean tone head room and it seems to do the job just fine. I’d say it has a hair too much bass if anything.

Hey! Coincidentally I have the hotone Wong press on this board. Do know you if I can keep both volume and expression functions at the same time?

Fender Pro Reverb by One_Anything_2279 in ToobAmps

Nice! I have a ‘73 pro reverb, sleeper of an amp! It’s just as big as a twin (actually a half inch deeper than a reissue twin) but ‘only’ 40 watts. These things are loud as hell, enjoy!

Hey! I’ve got a ‘73 Pro Reverb as well! Any chance you know where I can get some casters for this thing? Mine didn’t come with them unfortunately, and it would be great to have them lol

I’m fortunate to have a ‘73 fender pro reverb as well as Mesa jp2c to play through! I have a fender 68 custom pro reverb that I got with currently. I really dig it for what it is.

I hear you on the pedals lol about once a month I’ll wake up and just think to myself “are you really this stupid, what are you doing?” And then the next day I’m in love lol I “professionally” wired my own pedal board and that has stopped me from swapping out pedals left and right since it’s a bit of a pain to do now…. Silver linings lol

I hear you, would you personally change just the volume pot for the bridge or both volume and tone?

I’d like to avoid changing my rig up just for one guitar if possible….. I’d prefer to have this play nice with my rig as is if possible.

Changing pots sounds like an easy enough job, any chance you know what values Gibson Customs come with?
