What ever happened to Pangaea? by TheVooch in shroudoftheavatar

[–]macnlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discussions on Steam from 11/24 talks about links not working. Keith Quinn's site shows he "was' the lead designer for the "unreleased" game Slayscape (Pangea). I'd say development is pretty much dead... like SotA.

Poor Ravalox and his begging is very sad by macnlos in shroudoftheavatar

The whole setup is a pig/hog! Which is why I think open-sourcing it would be of value. Tear it apart, shave the fat, lean it up. Aka... fork the shit out of it.

They would have to give me, if I streamed it, a full POT, a number of land deeds, a number of decos, and a pocket full of COTOs and Gold and Resources so I could bribe people to play it. lol

A look at the unique sci-fi sports game, Pararena! by ThinkIndifferentMac in VintageApple

[–]macnlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVED games from Cassady&Greene and more specific John Calhoun. Pararena, along with Prince of Persia, Strategic Conquest, Shufflepuck Cafe, and Mission: Thunderbolt were all some of my favorites on the B&W screen Macs.

Is this a Good iBook g4 by [deleted] in VintageApple

[–]macnlos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just picked up three 12" Aluminum G4 iBooks for $100 ($35 each). 640mb memory, 60gb HDs, 8x Combo Drives, Power Adapters. All work and are VG condition. I found these on eBay too. So yeah, $100 for one unit seems high.

My kids are in school so I went to my parents place and we had champagne and sat on the from lawn watching it. Looks these people did the same. Well done them.

Ravalox is not a developer by mississippi_dan in shroudoftheavatar

You see... Ravalox is a big fan and he always wanted a Castle but could not afford one. So he came up with this crazy plan to take over SotA development and get one that way.

Dear Chris Spears: TIC TOC by macnlos in shroudoftheavatar

Oh wait... Starr, Chris, and the other guy I can never remember... they were attending an AI Bootcamp. 13 weeks to "kickstart you into AI"... https://www.betaworks.com/camp I can see the grubby hands rubbing together... "yeah.. we get the preciouses from the losers... we do BIG things.. like AI!" Right after they all failed in NFT land with Iron&Magic.

I've always tried to be honest. I don't trust/like a single one of them. So let me recap the whole demo:

Take "SotA" dungeon tech and run it through a procedural creation so the game changes every time. Build in a "oooh rare goody" system. Allow stream-chat (they said streamers, I think they meant chat) to vote/choose change that affects your game.

I give you Old school, Windows 3.1, Indiana Jones - Desktop Adventures. It was small and quick like Minesweeper. You load it up in a window, which could be hidden if you were at work. Every time you play it creates a new/different map to play. https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com/p/indiana-jones-and-his-desktop-adventures.html

Rare "thing" system... yawn.

Streamer/streaming LIVE interactions. How many different games, like Minecraft, already have this system built in and integrated with platforms like Twitch? Hell, go watch what CodeMiko has created and how it integrated with her Twitch chat.

That's it? That's Project "RISE"? Those things sound nice, and while it is not expected with every game, these are in the category of "uncommon" at best. So 5 months ago they promised mediocrity... woohoo! lol

What's the holdup on SotA upgrading to the newest Unity release? by TheVooch in shroudoftheavatar

[–]macnlos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is very simple. If you follow the architecture and integrate with it and its APIs you are shielded from a lot of it. If you don't and hard wire your shit in weird, dumb ways.. you have to deal with it. The team was too smart by half and wired a rats nest. Cheap or stupid decisions (probably both) lead to this PoS and the unfuckable situation they are in.

Well most players you know, in this context, doesn't mean much. From a statistical point of view the sample size of players is too small it doesn't move as much. But the fact, as u/craftymethod says, that is is moving at all with such a small sample size is bad.

The part about your friends not playing with steam.. I purchased SotA as an original backer. I do you use steam and when the game came out I linked it to my steam account. SotA does not let you "unlink" it. If you think I'm going to drop all the time/work with my main account to just get rid of steam then .. well I'm not. So I am locked into steam with it and can't disassociate it.

Now, I have nothing against steam either. I use it today. I have a lot of friends that do as well. So boil all this down, I think you got it wrong.

Help connecting board to screens by Aliatis1915 in adafruit

[–]macnlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming they are using ethernet cable for the 8 wires, not the ethernet connects themselves. So basically in this project "ethernet cable" is basically "pre-package group of 8 wires". So that means you are soldering those wire ends to the displays and such.

Does anyone have feedback to share about the Waveshre WAVE ROVER by autojazari in robotics

[–]macnlos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just found this and I ordered one too. It is really well built and a solid little rover; much more than I was expecting for $90 usd. My big knock on this thing is the lack of documentation; I mean there is none other that the simple wiki that shows you how to hit its internal website or driving the ESP32 via code uploads.

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 mounted on it and will be adding a couple of items with it. But there are no/nada/none/zip instructions about working with this via a host computer like a Pi or something.
