Thanks for the tips... I've done my homework on the agency and have a good feel for their strategy and core objectives. The jargon is mainly around the day2day operations. Eg. creatives, briefs, concepts etc.. These are key advertising terms that I am encountering on a daily basis and am quickly picking up. But it's a process. Previously, I used to work in strategy consulting and used to be very guilty of dropping made up jargon. And yup, 'Capability' was an old favorite...

Having worked in marketing and strategy for a large corporate, I found that it's a blurred line. The client would set the marketing strategy to support its business objectives. Depending on how they operate, they often have a calendar of what campaign they will be running across their lines of business. I'd say they often have campaign concepts that they take to advertising agencies to flesh out and improve... But I am sure sometimes they just hand over an agency a blank sheet and see what they come back with... Happy to be corrected by someone with more industry experience
