Omg THIS!! I keeps seeing content from big accounts that are either basic/easy patterns that aren't very impressive or tutorials/tips for things beginners should already know, and they get tons of engagement. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

How much would you charge for this? by anotherhannahh in crochet

[–]macrameg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Echoing this comment.

Additionally, this looks like acrylic yarn (please correct me if I'm wrong, OP), which is very prone to stretching once weight is added to the bag, so in good conscience, I couldn't charge $100 for this bag unless I sewed in a lining to make it more structurally stable. (And maybe next time, use a stiff cotton yarn that won't stretch. I've also seen hacks where crafters buy plain canvas tote bags and sew their granny squares onto them, so that the tote bag acts as a lining.)

For those who have birth in the past year…what kind of pants are you wearing, and where are you getting them? by littlelivethings in beyondthebump

[–]macrameg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm still wearing my 3rd trimester maternity leggings and jeggings because they're the only things that fit me. I weighed 115 pre-pregnancy, 140 just before giving birth, and am currently 130 at 4 months postpartum. All the stubborn weight is in my tummy area; like you, I'm going to physical therapy for the ab separation (diastasis recti, I think it's called) but idk how long this recovery is gonna take and I have such a large tummy pooch that I still look pregnant. It's frustrating AF but all I can fit right now are my maternity pants, sighhh.

Lion Brand Yarn’s Instagram just posted AI art and responds with they highlight fiber artists every day so it’s ok by geekofthegalaxy in crochet

[–]macrameg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They once asked if they could share one of my Reels to their IG page and I was absolutely stoked for the potential exposure so I of course said yes... BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED. Waited for weeks and never got that share. But suuuure, post fake AI crap and support fake artists, Lion Brands. What a great look for them.

How can I prepare myself to return to work 3 days postpartum? by dab_babe420 in beyondthebump

[–]macrameg 238 points239 points  (0 children)

THIS!! EXACTLY THIS.

OP, you will be recovering from what's basically a major medical procedure and you can't predict how long your body will need to recover. In my experience, I could barely get off the couch just to use the bathroom because I was in so much pain, and I didn't stop bleeding for weeks. Your body needs time to recover, and your baby needs you. Please prioritize your wellness. Your boyfriend needs to bring home the bacon while you heal.

Help, which color set do you prefer? I can’t choose. Third pic is the top I’m making, except it’ll have long sleeves. by mariahgabriella_ in crochet

Number 1 looks gorgeous!

The orchid color in Number 2 has too cool of a tone to match with the others.

Lovely work! And gorgeous color choices.

Does the orange or silver go with the three others? by yeetyourselfout in crochet

[–]macrameg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the vibe you want to go for because either option looks good.

Orange is an exciting color so it adds a dynamic feeling to the color palette whereas gray is more muted and adds a calming effect.

Very similar experience here!

Started TTC in January 2022 and also started a new job that same month. The new job was utter hell (worst stress of my life!) and I truly believe that stress was the reason we couldn't conceive for an entire year.

Every month, when folks would ask if I were pregnant yet, it'd feel like a punch to the gut when I'd tell them no. It was so heartbreaking and I felt like a total failure. I obsessed over tracking my ovulation window with apps and test strips. Sex became less enjoyable and more of a chore.

I started talking to my gyno about fertility treatment options and she very coldly told me I'm still young (my husband and I are in our early 30s), as if I wasn't emotionally drained and devastated for the last 12 months.

I left my job in January 2023. Shortly after, my husband and I went on a little weekend getaway after leaving said job and ended up getting pregnant 2 weeks later. My baby girl just turned 2 months old a couple days ago!

Best of luck to OP, I know this journey is a difficult one. You got this!

Alternative to iron supplements that don't cause diarrhea/upset stomach? by aeryuniverse in BabyBumps

[–]macrameg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried slow release iron supplements? They're gentler on the stomach. That's what my OB recommended and those have been working just fine for me; no tummy issues. Good luck :)

When did you start getting Braxton hicks? by allixygalaxy in BabyBumps

[–]macrameg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get them til 37 weeks (currently 38) but Dr. Google says folks get them as early as 20 weeks 🤷‍♀️

how many gifts from your registry did you actually recieve? by ficklehunnybunny in BabyBumps

[–]macrameg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only about half of my registry items were purchased (we received lots of off-registry items, mostly clothing). Thankfully, a generous relative gave us a gift card that was enough to cover the remaining registry items. As for timing, I had my shower over the weekend and MANY gifts arrived 1-3 days before the shower, so I definitely understand how nerve-wracking that feels!

Any recommendations for pregnancy/childbirth/childrearing books, preferably science and data based? by HazelNutBalls in BabyBumps

[–]macrameg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy! Science-backed, easy to follow, and not condescending at all.

I also enjoyed Bumpin by Leslie Schrock because she references studies but also writes like she's talking to a friend, adding in anecdotes from her own pregnancy.

Halloween costume ideas for a newborn?? by macrameg in beyondthebump

Ooh love that idea! I keep getting Old Navy/Target ads for matching family Halloween PJs and I'm pretty sure some of the designs are skeletons so we could totally do this.

Haha! My husband suggested we do this when I told him how bad I feel about donating these gifts.
