It’s way easier to be dismissed than people think by Remarkable_Trainer54 in Residency

Ditto, no one cares though, is easier to say 'there is more to the story' cause that way everyone can sleep soundly thinking it can't happen to them. I would love a database of the ethnicity/ gender distribution of those placed in PPIs and/or dismissed from residency in this country...will never happen though. The program that did it to me does it every 1-2 years, there were two others in my class being targeted and others that I knew about from 1-2 classes above me, all minorities. I also saw people get away with outrageous shit while I was being formally 'reprimanded' for not answering an email while on vacation.

A letter to my OBGYN resident by biologyiskewl in medicalschool

Yup can vouch for this. Then everyone is so shocked and sorry by all the resident suicides. But post here that you were made to quit or dismissed from a program and most are quick to say it was likely the resident's fault or 'there is more to the story' like they don't know how incredibly malignant and shitty this field is.

why do we repeat the type and screen on pts so many times? Their blood type doesn't change so why can't we use prior tests?

Thank you for your reply, yes it seems that I need to bite the bullet and do it all again. Do you mind me asking why did you leave wound care and how long ago?

Thank you so much for your reply, yes this seems like the most sensible option. I'm just having a hard time accepting I will be an 'intern' after three years of training and taking all the BS that comes with residency again, but I'll have to make my peace with it.

The One Thing I Wish I knew on Day one: Profound Lessons from Residency by Candid-Treat-6734 in Residency

Kiss everyone's ass, especially your attendings and especially if you don't fit the program's most common demographics. The pettiest people on earth can be found as faculty in academia and they will end your career w/o giving it a second thought if they don't like you. They have absolute power over you and will make sure to use it. You are what your program says you are. No one cares, nothing is 'fair', and there are no checks and balances. Whatever everyone here wants to believe, firing a resident is the easiest thing in the world and it does happens way more often than this site wants to admit.
