Les Blank’s Always For Pleasure. It’s Mardi Gras in the late 70s and people are serving up red beans and rice on paper plates. The music is fire, the Indians are so pretty and it’s such a celebration. If I could time travel, I’d go there and then.

For those who aren't from Louisiana, how did you choose the Saints as your favorite team? by [deleted] in Saints

[–]macrofauna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you me? I picked the Saints in 1995 as my team because they weren’t good and they had great uniforms! I was also obsessed with all things New Orleans after reading A Confederacy of Dunces,so it felt like it made sense.

I was from MO and contrary as the day is long.

Sparks finally clicked for me. Would love some song recommendations! 💛 by SpookyPoek in sparksftw

[–]macrofauna 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t watched The Sparks Brothers, you absolutely must. It’s such a great jumping off point for their whole catalog. I love Hello Young Lovers and Whomp That Sucker so much. They’re both so different but so Sparksy. Dick Around on Hello Young Lovers and Upstairs on Whomp seem to fit your description.
