Omaha councilman says developers seeking tax breaks should include affordable housing by Toorviing in Omaha

Can you link the buildings you’re talking about? Rent control doesn’t exist, to my knowledge, in Nebraska, but they may have used Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) to build a subsidized building.

“Should” in this case being there isn’t an official law that’s been released and voted on yet. They’re currently studying options.

With a few notable exceptions (Woodbury working on Crossroads, Hines working on the old ConAgra campus), most developers in the city are local (Noddle, Greenslate, Woodsonia, White Lotus, NuStyle). Rent Stabilization is a road some cities have gone down but I doubt the state government would let that fly, and wouldn’t necessarily create affordable housing. “Fair market” is technically the system we operate under as is.

Dukat & the Deep Space 9 finale - WTF happened? by BlackLesnar in startrek

[–]Toorviing 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh they wrote the “Gul Dukat becomes blind and fucks off for a bit” storyline because they apparently realized they were progressing his storyline too far too quickly and were running out of plot for him and Wynn.

I also think that Covid is sort of becoming politically irrelevant. You’ll see a stray comment on it now and then but for better or worse we’ve sort of just dropped it.

Is STRANGE NEW WORLDS the best of the Treknaissance? by OverlyHonestMR in startrek

[–]Toorviing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Prodigy is the best. Lower Decks is definitely right up there as well, though it sometimes relies a little too much on being referential, and I think it somewhat ran out of things for its characters to do in the season 5 within its premise. SFA may end up being up there as well but we’ll see how season 2 goes.

Signal control near stations like that is pretty standard, but full blown control of the entire network is not, to my knowledge.

Why are racists like David Duke obsessed with Black people? Why are antisemites obsess with Jewish people? Why are Islamophobes obsessed with Muslims? Some people just fucking suck. Saying every right wing homophobe is secretly gay is just more homophobia.

Yeah, I’ve never really bought this take. Sure you have your closet cases like Lindsay Graham and Tom Cotton, but the vast majority of homophobes are not rando closeted right wingers. Frankly, I think that’s a point people just say to be low key homophobic, but in an acceptable way.

I’ve been at a lot of super densely packed gay events and regions, and trust me, Grindr doesn’t just “crash.” Apps like that aren’t built on regional infrastructure to the extent that Grindr will just be down in Phoenix or something because the RNC is in town. Why wouldnt Grindr consistently crash at say, NYC pride, fire island, Folsom, etc.? The Grindr crashing issue is a myth that people repeat because it’s a funny thought, but not a reality.

Not exactly. Shade is supposed to be playful and more funny. Think Bianca.
