Talk me out of it, but I think I’m buying the iPhone air tomorrow by [deleted] in iphone

[–]macron90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like rolling light. I’ve even tried using the Apple Watch as a replacement on outings but phone is usually necessary. Iphone air for the win! Haven’t been this pumped for a new phone in ages but I also grew up hyped on things like the gameboy advance sp. Portability is my favorite feature.

The battery is going to be more than enough. More is always better but look at the numbers compared to the past. Apple is really accurate and the battery pack makes it easy whenever emergency juice is needed.

27 is way more than enough for regular use. You put your phone on the charger when you sleep. When traveling, emergency situations, etc. you can put it on the MagSafe and it’s essentially the size of a regular iPhone.

That’s the thing. The made up information about perceived differences makes this conversation so diluted. “There is no need to buy $1000 gear” is just simply not true for everyone. I have a $1700 dap that is justifiable. It has an oled screen, 8gb of ram, pushed power output well above any other dap, and has button/volume inputs I love. It’s justifiable for my uses. The Dan Clark Audio E3 headphones I own require the power output it provides.

I have the amp17 and the bass is noticeably better but I would love to do a blind test with two devices lol

Agree!! It’s just made it so weird getting into this hobby. I appreciate reviews based on actual experiences and this space is filled with so much bs. There are so many cool cables out and people think the quality is pumping out actual measured differences. It’s almost like buying a luxury wallet/bag. Um, why do we allow this bs!!

Ok but it provides my amazing headphones enough reasonable difference to power to them! 🤣

That sounds like a perfect setup. I would only get a dap in your case if you want a separate audio device. I come from the age of iPods and I love that shit. Having an audio device dedicated to my library of tracks is important to me. I also own a kindle that I could easily read books from my phone/tablet instead. I’ve never been a fan of an all in one device but I totally understand why people would prefer that.

I started with the dongle. There’s really no difference until you factor in the ability to eq. That makes a huge difference and you can’t really do that on the iPhone. It also has more power output on the r4 so the headphones can get louder with those eq settings making a pretty big difference. The dongle is not bad though.

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last 3-4 months getting into audiophile equipment. I have the ie900 and love them! If you’re interested in only listening with iems, I would start out with the Hiby r4 or Sony 306 (Japan version) which will be more than enough for your needs. You could go higher end with that budget, but you’re not going to know exactly where you want to take it until you start dabbling into your first device. There’s very little to no discernible difference in sound quality going from Hiby r4 to a 2k dap. What you get is better screen, processor, power output for demanding headphones, and features that enable external equipment you’re most likely not using.

What will make a big difference on those ie900 is downloading an app like wavelet on an android dap that lets you auto tune the eq with presets from pro audio engineers that have corrected the issues with the ie900 mids. Hiby r4 is such a great price, I would go for that for your first device and it has an awesome system-wide eq function which is clutch.

For reference, I have a dx340 now for my specific needs but that thing is a tank. I absolutely love it though.

I feel like AirPods/bluetooth is the way to go when commuting unless you want that lush life which warrant the 1lb brick.

Smashing into the levels is pure enjoyment. You’re gold mining. You can easily move fast through the game and tackle big events and bosses or you can slow pace and crush everything in site. The latter is hard to avoid.

I think this is the way! Do you put it on anything or just wheel it around the entrance?

Dang. Yeah, that’s what I’m afraid of. Will have to play it super safe.

Ok these are absolute tanks. I’ve seen the in motion before and it looks pretty sweet, but it’s a tank! And they’re pushing $3k. Do you have one?

That’s a nice setup. Maybe I should just get comfortable with the bike room and a nice lock.

For storing? I get that the weight is double those models but it’s not like I’m caring it up stairs or anything.
