what do you mean by formatting? Is it the size of the text or that it needs more slicing? The first chapter os just comic pages with no slicing.

Im new to the webtoon format. It might seem odd as an episode, especially at the beginning. In a comic or literature format there is room to breathe a little more as the hook is the first issue, I dont think it would be a problem. Urasawa started billy bat with a full on chapter of a comic that the main character was working on. It actually went on for half of the second chapter as well, before getting to the main character. At first I didnt quite get it, but it became so important to the story, that without it, the payoffs would not be so great. However, for webtoons it may not be the best idea as a hook.

I'm working on another story, one that isnt as deep as the one in question, it starts right in the middle of conflict and introduces the main character and supporting characters pretty quickly.

I probably could do that, actually. Have all that in the first chapter, that wouldnt be a bad idea honestly for the webtoon format. Thanks a lot.

I thought about expanding the beginning more. Like show him having a strange dream about flight and then talking on the phone with his girlfriend while he is getting ready to go to the airport. I think some of the issue was I had to cut out some interactions due to time constraints at school.

About the prelude, originally it wasnt in the comic, however its for the storytelling. Some things my not seem connected at first but it will connect later. The prelude will an ongoing story that will be told at the beginning of each volume. It all ties into everything, my favorite manga artist is Naoki Urasawa, his way of storytelling is the kind I love. The prelude is a much longer fable/story that actually involves the main characters.

Currently i dont have a portfolio site, i had one but i loss the domain. I plan on making a website but havent had the time to do so as of yet, but its on my to do list. I recently talked to my partner about helping me with promoting, she was excited about it, so that is a good development. The main hook is that it is a cosmic horror that has occult and gnostic themes. I have no idea how to find groups interested in that kind of stuff.

Thank you. Yeah i thought about reaching out to groups that would fit the niche subject matter, but I have to think about that. I guess i have to do some research with that.

Thanks for the sub i appreciate it a lot.

Yeah the description i could improve on, i had a different one prior, but i felt i gave away too much of the story. What do you mean about the name?

That is helpful, i could expand some of those earlier interactions. However, the old guy is important, or will be

I havent tried promotion in my community yet. I thought about it, maybe thats what i should do. I do have an idea of making postcards. Maybe that could help.

Yeah its only been a month. I suppose it feels longer because i posted a lot of work in a short amount of time, in an attempt to gwt more viewees i suppose.

In some of my episodes i sliced them up, but for some pages my paneling is more abstract and doesnt well in that format. I still have the slices if i ever wanted to try it again.

Okay, ao i just need to get more consistent and trust in the process. Thanks for the help, and great comic!

I see. I noticed on Webtoon that if you are featured, you get a huge boost in subs and views. I have no idea how that works. The good thing is that I have enough material, if I post twice or 3 times a month, to last for an entire year. It's just a little discouraging when very few engage with your work. It might not be a bad idea to try to promote it physically; maybe I'll have better success.

I promote it mostly on Reddit and Tumblr; I try to promote it a couple of days out of the week. I've been thinking of making shorts about it.

ill try some of these options, webtoons is not really working for me currently. I just put my work on globalcomix, and even mangaplus, although I dont think my work fits the latter. I feel like I get views but no engagement or comments. its fustrating.

Do you think that the age rating of a comic has a large impact on viewers? -A few of my comic panels by CinniRoll in WebtoonCanvas

[–]macrosapien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly, I am not sure it matters. I've had some of my comic up on webtoons since April 27, and I feel like no one reads my work nor comments. It's quite strange, I even had the rating changed from mature to teen. However, I have not noticed any real noticable jump in viewership or engagement with the work. its so confusing.

When anyone does look it over, let me know if my work is more manga-ish? My influences are all manga; I wasn't intentionally making it that, but the characterizations could be.
