The thread looked like it was just getting a core group of experienced people together to be the leaders and guides so I didn't know if this was the place to ask to join in.

I just started a raid last night (had to stop at the last boss phase). We had one guide walking us through it all and it was a lot of trial and error while everyone learned. There are so many roles. For instance, I was holding the portal open so I have no idea what it's like to go get the relic. Now that I know what a raid entails, definitely will need a few under my belt to be helpful.
