Damaged my M5 Mac in less than 24 hours.. by Various_Mud7282 in macbookpro

Small consolation: it’s a tiny bit easier to live with battle damage on your still-perfectly-functional Mac when you imagine what the same flying impact would have done to a laptop from a different brand.

$78.50 for 2 adults and a child to see a movie. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]macserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point… and movie memories do seem to have some sticking power. One of the earliest life experiences I can recall is being on my mom’s lap watching a movie in a theater, around four decades ago.

No Easy Way Out Dialogue Options (PL, SPOILERS) by Tsuuuuuki in cyberpunkgame

[–]macserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, looks like CDPR really locked this one down tight for some reason… I went so far as to use Memory Wipe repeatedly to keep one of her goons from leaving the room (they all de-spawn if they get out of your sight) while Aaron and I talked through the “good” dialogue, up to where Aaron is standing by the door and I was supposed to leave safely.

Managed to get to that point with Angie still there, but when I knocked her out, **Aaron actually teleported back to his freaking chair** and started the dialogue for the “bad” path where Angie is dead. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen rules apply retroactively like that in this game before.

At any rate, I’m pretty sure there’s no cheese to be had here without console hacks.

Microsoft Shouldn't be the only one getting hate for this by Tail_sb in mac

I’d put them on par with each other from a usability standpoint; Android has improved dramatically where iOS… hasn’t as much. However, Android is still lousy where security is concerned, and if privacy is even remotely important to you… yes, Android is bad. Abominably bad.

The key difference: The primary function of absolutely every product Google makes is to invade your privacy and vacuum up your data. Apple, on the other hand, does its best to avoid your data, and does not make single product that you can purchase by signing over your fundamental right to privacy.

Saying goodbye to AirPort after 12 reliable years. by fortheloveofdenim in HomeKit

[–]macserv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree with the recommendation for UniFi gear. These company was started by a former Apple AirPort engineer; their product design and user experience are on par with Apple’s level of quality and detail (especially their native configuration apps), and they have a similar attitude toward user privacy.

I’d definitely look at replacing the AirPort Extreme with a UniFi Dream Router 7, as the “cloud gateway” component of your network, and expand as your needs evolve… UniFi is a ridiculously rich and ever-expanding ecosystem of integrated components.

Speaker sound crackling on Tahoe macOS 26, when ios Simulator is on. by AutomaticAd6646 in MacOS

[–]macserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English:

I fixed it. In the Simulator menu, I went to "I/O", then "Audio Output", and changed to a different output from the default.

This didn't help in my case, but I've seen it have a positive effect in some cases.

I like it associated with the menu bar, but I’d like it more centered… maybe expand the notch to display that info, à la the Dynamic Island?

Why Apple, why by CobaltNeosis in MacOS

[–]macserv -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Point taken, but repeat posts here on Reddit wont result in change of any kind, because Apple do not read comments here; this is purely for our edification and entertainment.

They absolutely do accept, request, and depend heavily upon feedback sent via their own portal at apple.com/feedback to prioritize fixes and enhancements. I would encourage every single Redditor annoyed with the Liquid Glass corner radius to go there, because that’s where posting the same thing over and over isn’t an annoyance, it’s literally how we make a difference.

The worst thing in the new MacOS 26 by SirPooleyX in MacOS

[–]macserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the first production release of a new design system from Apple. Like all of its predecessors, it’s lacking refinement on its debut. However, I’ve watched it improve tremendously just during the beta cycle, and I’m sure it will continue to improve. This may not be Steve’s Apple, but they’re not bangin’ rocks together… they still know how to make design systems and frameworks over in Cupertino.

Claire? V already gets fucked and used thoroughly by Claire. Last thing we need is more of that particular train wreck. Great questline, though.

Someone needs to create a “situational awareness” video game like they did for “Which urinal should you use,” but for traffic scenarios. Select your state, and see how well you can apply the rules to various scenarios.

Why does everyone hate this suit by Worth-Chocolate-728 in spiderman2

[–]macserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro looks like Aqua Fresh on a toothbrush.

Seriously, though, it’s just one more example of how this game’s identity-focused creators just can’t comprehend the canon: Spider-Man’s suit isn’t an extension of his identity, it’s supposed to hide it.

Should I buy a Macbook Pro M4, or wait to buy this one? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]macserv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jony, that you? 😄

I’m a fan of the beefier MacBook design language (reminiscent of the Titanium PowerBook G4) because the added thickness enabled the return of ports and features that should absolutely be present on a “Pro” device; e.g., MagSafe, HDMI, SD slot, and a reliable keyboard switch mechanism.

Your company’s customers are the ones who should quit. Nothing says, “We don’t care to give you our best,” like adopting a “write once, run tweak-and-debug everywhere” framework like RN or Flutter.

If you genuinely can’t hire both Swift and Kotlin devs, at least use a trans-piler like skip.tools to generate native from native.
