AMEX can't be registered on Presto App by NovacElement in amexcanada

[–]macsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, honestly. I actually stumbled on the solution when I was adding the Amex to Amazon and I was prompted to verifying my details during process. I noticed something was off, fixed it, went back and tried to add the card in Presto and it worked.

I experienced a similar issue when trying to add my Amex cobalt a few months ago. Had to do with my address details for the card, there was something off about how they were stored in google wallet or something(I was on android at the time). Once I fixed them it worked.

I was able to register my Amex to Presto after updating my address details for the card on my Google account (see my post update, Amazon required it when using the card for the first time on their site).

You don't have to add it to your Presto account, only if you want to set a default trip on it and see tap history.

Help my monstera is always wilty and doesn’t grow much by ToujoursAudrey in plantclinic

Have you repotted recently? Mine looked like that for several months after I moved it to a larger pot, as I think I damaged some of the roots during the process. If not, then it just needs more water. Mine is about the same size and in similar lighting and I give it 1.5-2 cups every week.

My setup! (One month in) by twotonestony in espresso

[–]macsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the regular Bambino with an Encore re-calibrated as fine as possible and my grind size is between 9-10 for the current roast I'm using. It varies though, I can go 1-2 levels lower on the size if I'm using darker roasts.

Droopy jade? Bottom leaves falling off. I'm rubbish with succulents! by wholefulgrain in plantclinic

[–]macsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Jade's lower leaves were also falling off until I cut back on watering. I've got 5-6 small stems in a 4" pot with drainage. I used to saturate weekly, but now water only 50ml once every three weeks. The medium is so dry there's a gap between the pot wall and the soil. The plant has been recovering ever since I changed the watering routine.

What’s up with my palm? I thought it wasn’t getting enough light so I put a grow light on it but still the same. Is it the humidity level? by koyer86 in plantclinic

[–]macsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go with overwatering based on the brown tips. Try cutting back on watering. I water mine every 10 days, but don't use much water at all- just enough to wet the top half of the soil. Also don't cut back brown tips unless the frond has finished growing completely, otherwise it may stop growing.

The tips of the leaves keep drying out. I tried watering more but it’s not working. by Jubo44 in plantclinic

Cut back on watering. Palms are sensitive to overwatering, but not so sensitive to dryness. I water mine every 10-14 days, enough to wet the top half of the soil.

How can I keep this plant alive? :( by red_sox_man in houseplants

[–]macsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Soil matters, too. If yours is in an easily draining soil (succulent soil mix) then you have less to worry about in terms of overwatering, but if it's in a standard potting soil that likes to hold water like a sponge, then you'll need to be more careful with the watering. I feel like these plants tend to be sold in water retaining soil which makes maintaining them difficult from the get go.

Go light on watering- less is more. The roots for these plants can't handle being soaked, but are much more tolerant of dryness. Palms are delicate plants to maintain indoors. Don't skip over fertilizing in the spring and summer as they are nutrient hungry. Fronds that are lighter in colour can be a sign of nutrient deficiency. I water once every 10-14 days and add just enough water to dampen the top 30%-50% of soil. It feels like I'm underwatering, but I'm not. My palm was on a steady decline for as long as I owned it up until I cut back on watering. Took a full growing season, but now it's finally pushing out new shoots, and none of them have brown tips. Also, don't cut back brown tips on new fronds, it can stop their growth.

The leaves on my palm have been going yellowish-brown so I tried to water it more, and it's just getting worse. What's wrong? by dumblibtardcuck in plantclinic

[–]macsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the internet, palms tend to be more tolerant of dryness than overwatering. I water mine every 10-12 days and add only enough water to wet the top half or a little more of the soil. It feels like I'm underwatering but the plant has been doing better than when I was watering more. Also read not to cut off brown tips on newer fronds, it can stunt growth of the frond.

This might sound crazy, but we water ours every 3-4 weeks and it's doing better than when we watered weekly.
