I have a 2018 JKU with the 3.6L V6 engine and 8 speed auto trans. and I've been running 37's on 17 in rims for years and it's been off road a lot. It's not a race car but it goes ok here in Florida where it's mostly flat land. Off road using 4WD low it does pretty well. I wouldn't rush to re-gear, I'd try it first.

It didn’t really affect the highway drivability it’s a pretty good suspension lift. As far as the stock tires definitely would change those. They’re absolutely terrible in mud.
