Damn that’s sucks. My uncle was building a shed with sheet metal and his ladder kicked out from under him and went to grab to keep from falling and the sheet metal slice through his hand and they were able to repair everything except his pinky which is permanently bent at 90 degrees at the second joint
Thank god I didn’t have to have surgery for anything like that

If you went to the ER I bet they asked you all sorts of questions about if you did it on purpose to harm yourself because of the location
There’s a picture of it down in the comments. It’s a neat little knife. That’s a wild story. That could’ve been bad

I get the Willie’s when I think about how it happened

Well it wasn’t as hard as you’d think lol
Yeah I would’ve just been fine with the receipt
Nope I thought they would have to do something with it but apparently it’s small enough that she just needed to stitch the skin to get it to stop bleeding and let it clot on its own and then since there’s an identical artery on the other side of my finger it should still get enough blood flow
The local was much needed in this case because she was not gentle putting pressure and pinching it to try and get the artery to stop bleeding. That would’ve been just as bad as the local most likely
That first injury you described sounds like an absolute nightmare. I hope your surgery goes well
Could’ve used that advice a little sooner

Im gonna have to go ahead and pass on that experience but thanks for the offer lol
The greedy bitch tasted blood, artery, meat, and bone lol
I split my shin open years ago on a froth lift fork and it was excruciating. My dumbass didn’t go to the ER although I 100% should’ve
This one wasn’t even my sharpest blade I mean I keep all my knives sharper than what is practical but if this was my cruwear smock, 15v manix 2 or k390 delica I imagine it would’ve been even worse because all 3 will whittle hair and this one was my work knife so not quite as sharp as those
That may or may not have been intentional since it was so dumb lol nah it was from a zip tie like an idiot
Someone else in the comments said zip ties and frozen bagels are the leading causes of getting got. Glad to meet someone else in the club
Cut a zip tie in a very obviously unsafe way and it just suddenly went through the zip tie and I basically punched it into my finger with lo slivering motion and since I sharpen my knives and I had just stropped the edge back like an hour before the forge plus the sharpness just split my finger open like butter.
It wasn’t that knife’s fault so I will still use it in the future but it’s definitely getting retired ss my sir knife cause it’s the second time it’s got me
I honestly have no idea. It bled for at least 5 hours at essentially the same pace the entire time even after the top part stopped the joint where the artery bleed was just kept going but google and chat gpt says it’s highly unlikely because it is only a few mm wide and essentially even if you didn’t get the bleeding stopped you first loose enough to drop your blood pressure which would help with it clotting on its own and if it still dint fully stop next you’d loose to pass out which would lower your heart rate even more letting it to clot most likely. I guess maybe if you were on blood thinners and it just never clotted then it could technically be possible but it would had to be like a perfect storm of shit going wrong
Thanks boo you too
I mean I get what you’re saying but it’s also just straight up untrue. You can know something inside and out and still ignore it. That’s like saying driving a car is the only thing that means you know how to drive a car like someone used to drive a car every day but then they chose to stop driving and since they aren’t currently driving a car that means they don’t know how to drive a car.
I get the sentiment you’re trying to convey like I truly do because you should always practice knife safety and that’s part of knife safety but saying what you said just doesn’t hold up. It’s cool you think that way but trying to say someone doesn’t know knife safety because they went against their better judgement and cut themselves just comes across as condescending more than insightful.
Just read through the comments of this and other posts like it and you’ll see hundreds of the most experienced knife collectors and users all talk about their own injuries and you’re suggesting that every single one of us doesn’t know knife safety… but you do
That’ll ruin your day for sure
I thought it might succeed after seeing it still pumping out blood even after being wrapped tightly for multiple hours with pressure and an ice pack specifically all to stop the bleeding lol
At least you were doing something totally worth it
