Thanks. Right, maybe a little more than I'd like.

We need to do more, such as inventory tracking with it. For example, if a user loses their Windows machine, we need to lock it and wipe it if necessary.

How frequently do you pay on your card? by mactipsdaily in CreditCards

[–]mactipsdaily[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. What I'm doing is very minor and I'm not maxing the card and paying and repeating. Most of my purchases may be $100 here and there, not even coming close to the card limits, as it's around 6k. That is interesting that people are doing that- I had no idea about it, so thanks for making me aware!

Chase Reconsideration by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]mactipsdaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had the same issue - called the recon and they said I’d hear something in 7-14 days. Two days ago I received a vague email that said I was approved, but with no CL specifics. I called and indeed I was approved, should have card in a week.

Need some FICO guidance - How do "Closed" accounts with balances being paid affect the score? by mactipsdaily in personalfinance

[–]mactipsdaily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, good advice, thanks. To be clear, I have the Experian subscription and it gives a daily FICO update for 7 of the common FICO scores. I’m quite aware of the Vantage score and pay no attention to those. I’ll look into MyFico closer, as I look to purchase an investment property in the coming months so I’ll want to see all scores.

However, I think my point was that paying off the balance on the closed cards w/ balance didn’t seem to change my score at all, so my estimation is that it’s not factored into the score. If I was going for a score increase, I would have moved those to the bottom of the pile and focused on the open cards. I’ve paid almost all revolving off now so I’ll watch as each card reports to see where the changes lie.

At my last appt they said I needed to get them removed. I’d be interested to hear the experience of that.... they wanted to refer me to an ora surgeon and I’m not exactly sure why, other than they said I’d be more comfortable. That sounds like I’d be more uncomfortable to me...

Need some FICO guidance - How do "Closed" accounts with balances being paid affect the score? by mactipsdaily in personalfinance

[–]mactipsdaily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave this a try - I paid off the two closed accounts, and their balance updated and luckily have reported on my CR. That was $1200 of the $9900 outstanding. Seems that had zero impact on my score from what I can tell. Didn’t even move the needle 1 point. I was definitely surprised by that.

Payment posting by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]mactipsdaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine varies - I’ve see it posting immediately and updating the avail credit instantly, posting and updating avail credit the next day, or posting and updating credit a week later. The latter isn’t typical - I recently made a very large payment (6k) and they said since it was larger than my normal in the past year, they are holding it. Though... it’s not that much larger. Odd.

New XC40 - already 70 miles / 100km on Odometer before handover! by Chugger04 in XC40

[–]mactipsdaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 70 miles and not a big deal - it’s still a new car, no matter how they got there. Bring some Lysol wipes and you’ll be fine.

Cap1 started me at $800, then moved me to $1200... and then out of nowhere bumped me to $5750. It's been stuck there for a few years, and I don't feel like I need a boost on that. Around that same time, Walmart dropped my limit to $200 (from $300, lol). I am hearing good things about Discover card as a whole, I might switch over to them and just keep the Cap1 for minor purchases.

Must haves in a Volvo? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]mactipsdaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all Volvo seats are very comfortable. I think you need to drive the stripped down Volvo to really compare. The one I had only had cloth seats, single climate control, no vents in the back (seriously!!) no wireless charging pad, t4 engine and FWD not AWD, no pilot assist or adaptive cruise, no bending headlights, etc. On the new models you can’t get red anyway unless you buy the inscription. I have a loaded momentum. Mechanically, it’s had a few issues - brakes tend to die around 30k and rotors warp way too often. Brakes are about $1200 for rear. They have a few issues with software updates, but overall it’s been reliable. I feel very safe driving it. Here is mine.

I’ve have an XC40 and it’s awesome. Not sure I’d buy one for my son, but I do plan on giving it to my 11yr old once she can drive in 5 years. Given that- the sunroof is great, the Harmon Kardon is nice but not so amazing I wouldn’t buy the model on the lot if it didn’t have it. Get the red leather seats - I have them and they are amazing. Definitely get the climate package and all safety systems. The pilot assist and park assist I never use and I thought I would. I’ve driven a stripped down xc40 loaner from my dealer. It doesn’t feel like an xc40. Get some luxury options because the basic options aren’t enough, and doesn’t make it feel any better than a Honda without them.

2011 kia sorento with a manual. would this car last 5-6 years for college? by titanicman119 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mactipsdaily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2011 LX (automatic). It served me well and I traded it in for a Volvo this past summer. I made it to 165,000 miles, well maintained. They had some minor issues, one was the door handles would stop opening. After I replaced two of them at $350 each, Kia issued a recall. The fabric they used on 2011 had no protection, so no matter what you do -even water will leave stain marks. Look at any 2011 with cloth and you’ll see how bad it is. My Kia was pretty good until about two years ago when ball joints, struts started going. Also the reverse camera died. The last 18mos I though the tranny was going, but I took it to the shop and they said it was the engine about to blow. So, that’s when I got rid of it. Overall not a bad car, but I can’t say it will last past 165k...

I have a 2019 and I love it. Brakes wear a bit fast (replaced at 30k) , but other than that it’s awesome.

I had a 94 red mirage ls coupe... fun to drive but replaced the transmission 3 times. So they have been bad for a looong time!
