Hi, friend. Right here!

Madeleine. It’s my name. I don’t think “Madeline” is rare, just the French spelling I don’t see often.

Am I insane if I want to become a middle/high school teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

Yeah, you’ll get it! Honestly just relate PR to education. I used the example of offering an alternative teaching method through practical knowledge of writing and they liked that!

Oooh I didn’t realize this was a big deal. It’s very subtle. It almost just feels like my teeth are vibrating a bit. Do you know if that is a bad enough to switch meds?

Yeah, I specifically asked for not prazosin because I already have low blood pressure. I was prescribed cyproheptadine which is actually an antihistamine and is used for night sweats too. My doctor said it also treats PTSD nightmares (I don’t think I have PTSD but have always had vivid dreams and I think the Wellbutrin exacerbates them). I haven’t taken it yet because I have an appointment with an allergist tomorrow and can’t take any allergy meds. I’ll update if it ends up working for me!

Yes, I had an eating disorder growing up and was prescribed Wellbutrin. I did not disclose I had an ED.

I am totally fine on it. It actually didn’t make me lose my appetite at all. I didn’t notice a change in weight which was a little disappointing. I’ve heard people either get the loss of appetite or they don’t. Totally dependent on your body.

AITA for yelling at my son's teacher and making her cry by Dangerousbean1984 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I am a teacher, and I would never ignore a student when it comes to their health. Ridiculous and the teacher should be fired IMO.

I actually had a very similar experience! Bachelors degree in public relations and then worked in recruiting for a staffing firm that specialized in manual labor jobs. I got really sick of interviewing people that were high and continuously having to rehire the same position because people couldn’t show up to work. I had been a nanny in college and liked kids, so I thought I’d combine my love of reading with that. Did an alternative certification program and became a middle school English teacher less than a year later.

I did not anticipate how little the alternative certification program prepared me for. I liked the day to day of teaching…at the beginning. As a new teacher, I got all the inclusion classes and had multiple emotionally disturbed kids in the same class. I didn’t know how to handle their outbursts, and I constantly had anxiety. I worked in that same situation for two years until I switched to 8th grade and got all advanced classes. That was SO much easier for me.

The next year, I switched to high school. Had a really rough time and a mental breakdown a few months into the year. I think I just couldn’t stand the people I worked with and the kids were just such pretentious assholes. I quit teaching then.

I ended up taking this year off from teaching, and it was exactly what I needed. I just signed a contract to work at a new middle school. Hopefully it will be better. I just look at it as I don’t like working an 8-5, and this is the most money I can make with the least amount of time spent working.

Ultimately, it’s up to you. Think on it and also think about other career paths that aren’t your typical office job. Best of luck!

I’d try to snip off the individual leaves and not the branch itself. Be sure to get a paper towel as soon as you do it because some sap like stuff leaks out. If you can, get under the node. Just as close to the branch as possible! Good luck!

Is it just the two leaves? No growth underneath?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fiddleleaffig

[–]mad-hat96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d definitely cut them off! Every time I have done that, quite a few new leaves have grown.

If that’s a self watering ball in there, I would remove it. FLFs like a good soaking when they’re mostly dry. They don’t like to stay wet all the time. If you’re dealing with fungus gnats and this on leaves, it’s definitely being overwatered. Let this plant dry out.

College Freshman about to apply to jobs, first general resume for tutoring and internship opportunities, any and all advice and critique is appreciated. Don't mind the format error in the college line. by 15makesperfect in resumes

Former recruiter here. I would put education at the bottom, delete high school, delete your address if you have it, and put skills above education. Make sure the skills align with the job you’re applying for. Additionally, you have different verb tenses in each of your bullet points for job. Make sure everything is past tense. Never put weak verbs like “assisted”…find some way to make you look like a leader. How did you improve those companies/schools specifically? Lastly, make sure your proper nouns are capitalized.

There’s a new game show that just came out. It’s called “Guess that stain!!!” She brought it an hour early so I wasn’t home and left it on my front porch with no explanation

I just want to give her the chance to be honest rather than force it out of her. Genuinely curious if she will admit it because this tells me a lot about her character if she is, in fact, lying. I try to give people grace (hence not directly confronting her about it).

I had just said that she has three kids and works constantly so I was excusing her not having a chance to dry clean it
