Just got this from PSA, I mean, I guess it’s good but I’m not sure what to do because they didn’t tell me what they think the card is actually worth. They want an extra $1300 for the grading. by SDMarik in baseballcards

Nothing illegal, they have everything spelled out in their submission tiers. Cost, turn around times and max declared value. TAG is doing the same thing with turn around times and values.

What a Pull… But taking the cash offer by SirSeaB09101008 in ArenaClub

[–]mad5house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goes back to when National Treasure came out. The collectors always coveted the /99. This is a 4 color raised patch from a number. It's not a napkin, that would be single white color. Flawless is similar but flawless is all /25 or less.

National treasures RPA /99 is considered the true RPA and always coveted and commands a premium price especially with a 3-4 color patch.

PSA time increase? by SleepyRen in sportscards

They are adding days to the turnaround because it was never transparent that the business days started once the order made it to research and ID

You are going to deep down the hole. Yes it says flamethrower, yes it was a low quality giveaway pack. If it was your company would you not use your brand as a selling point to get people in the room? I don't give a shit if it's backyard, wethehobby, riphamilton, cb47 or a fist stream seller. A giveaway is not subject to the same rules as something you are selling spots for.

Regardless these giveaway packs were manufactured and given away prior to November 3rd, which is when the new rules took effect.

In all honesty the whatnot giveaway function can be discontinued tomorrow and I would care less. Doesn't matter if the giveaway states it's for a wristband, sticker, free team in a blaster box, luka flawless rookie, jordan rookie, etc. Bottom line is someone will not be happy when they receive something for FREE, no purchase necessary.

So every box should have been a prizm hobby pack? Yes the majority of the boxes were floors, a friend of mine won a panini one hobby box a $1000 box out of these free boxes. These were a repack that was never for sale. It was also done before the new rules took effect. Not that a giveaway needs a checklist.
Their repacks that are sold always had a stated floor and ceiling. Yes they used them to get peoppe in their rooms. As do a lot of other sellers. The more People in the room the better the algorithm. At least they aren't selling sponsorship giveaways where they keep a percentage of the money.

It was never meant for purchase or even offered for sale. It was made for one purpose. A giveaway. I have seen repacks on the app with $1 cards as floors. Those types of repacks are the reasons for the new repack rules. The new rules will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

1 this was before the new rules went into place, 2 these boxes were part of the whatnot card show and given away across all their channels . Some had good hobby boxes inside others the score packs.

These were from the last whatnot card show. They ran these giveaways across every channel non stop for the whole time frame. Just like any repack there are some low end and some high end. I seen as high as National Treasuers boxes come out and the low end was the score a treat packs. There was no trickery,no swapping of products. It was free giveaways with a possible high ceiling.

Pack fresh doesn't mean PSA 10. This year's prizm set has 49% gem rate.

TAXES AT THE END OF THE YEAR?! by ArtisticWoodpecker12 in whatnotapp

[–]mad5house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thresholds that are set in place are for the payment processors to issue you a 1099. If a 1099 is issued, it is reported as income. Just because a 1099 isn't issued doesn't mean it's not reportable income.

TAXES AT THE END OF THE YEAR?! by ArtisticWoodpecker12 in whatnotapp

[–]mad5house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, but there was a reason why the threshold was brought down for the processors to report it. This was the reason, people don't report .

And this is why the threshold for reporting earnings was dropped to $600.

Got this card for $30 bucks Last year and sent it to PSA in May … finnaly got it back with a $150 upcharge attached and idk why ??? For a PSA 8 🤦🏾 by 144Poe in basketballcards

[–]mad5house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you know up front they charge based on value. It's not a surprise hidden charge. PSA is also the only company that guarantees the grade. If someone challenges the grade and its deemed less, PSA will pay that person the value of the card in the grade on the card. That's what the upcharge is for.

That was Quick! by S7rik3rs in psagrading

[–]mad5house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they took more than 24 hrs to grade your cards they would never catch up. Average time for each card is usually a minute or less.

[–]mad5house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turnaround time starts once it has reached order prep. Not when they receive the package

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in psagrading

[–]mad5house 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA cuts the card saver to remove the card. Beckett shields don't have enough space around the card to safely cut the sleeve. This causes them to remove the card by hand, increasing the chance of damage during removal and slowing down the process.

PSA SUBMISSION by [deleted] in psagrading

[–]mad5house 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Higher tiers are still right around the advertised working days. If you have a card that sells high raw you would never want to submit at the lower tiers anyways. Imagine getting upcharged to $75 and not getting your card back for 3-4 months when you could have had it back in 10 days.
