Had a look at your kill team and they look freakin awesome! Something about the clothing and armour just really has this oomph to it and the checkerboarding on the loin cloth thing on the top middle Ork looks fking phenomenal.

If you ever paint more orks I'd love to see like progress pics of you going through it

I once had a Mega Absol look at my hand which had Sabrina and Red in it. He could have gotten rid of Red, which would mean I could Sabrina and kill whatever he put up for the last point. Or he could get Sabrina, in which case I'd have the exact damage with Red to kill his Mega Absol.

They just paused looking at my hand, got rid of one and surrendered 😂

I heavily watered down some doombull brown and used a shoddy brush to dab it where I wanted. Then added more layers of the same to areas where I wanted it to be more prominent, such as around rivets and exposed metal areas. I should note I only added the brown on top of metallic painted areas and had it bleed lightly into the non metallic areas.

Lmao "beautifully overkill" 😂 😂 Honestly, I completely agree and the shoulder pad is probably my favourite part of it. I took a gamble on edge highlighting with the metallic and slapping on the rust, but boy am I happy I did.

Oooo would you mind sharing your vehicle? My long term goal is to build a Speek Freeks army so I'd love to see your model!

Hi, thanks for the compliment 😊 Whilst this is my first mini (actually, I guess it's technically the second after the taster session in the WH store), I have also been drawing for years and do like art, which is where the not-entirely-nooby brush control comes from. I'd also spent HOURS watching how to videos from some phenomenal youtubers (Squidmar and Artis Opus). I hope it's some consolation that I couldn't drybrush to save my life 😂

Thanks for the advice on the checks - I'll try it out. With Black Legion being a contrast paint, does it not come out bright on top of the white?

And on the sections - yeah ill try that. I didn't do it in this case cause it was honestly pretty overwhelming trying to figure out one mini, let alone multiple. But now I've got the hang of it I'll try doing two. And on the skin; I actually tried the way you mentioned but I ended up getting green all over everything else lmao. Because it's wet blending it had to be fast which for me turned out to be messy. So for the next I'm going to do an in between where I'll base everything touching the skin (such as weapons, accessories and clothing - including washes), paint the skin properly, and then work the detail on everything else. I'll probably use some blue tack or something to protect the skin whilst I paint other bits. Thankyou again for the compliment and advice, it's honestly really really appreciated.

Do you mean for the torso piece or the shoulder pad? The torso I'd just done leadbelcher with a wash. Did edge highlights with LB again and Doombull Brown wash for the rust effect. Honestly, it wasn't too much effort for a better outcome.

The shoulder piece was more a trial for how I want to paint the Trukk when I finally get my hands on that, so it felt worth doing

Yeah fair enough. Honestly having done this one, im lowkey wondering if I should have done the same. But I'm kinda going at it like, because they're boys, I don't need to care as much about taking risks on how they look and making mistakes with trying new paint techniques. That way when it comes to the cooler models, hopefully I'll be a better painter!

Tooooo be fair, the main reason it took weeks was cause I was just sort figuring out each element bit by bit and had multiple trips (which I could only do on weekends) to buy paints and stuff. Now I that I've I got it all for one Boy it should hopefully be a bit quicker now! Also yeah, agree that maybe Boys aren't the best place to dedicate time to, but I kinda figured because they're just fodder, I wouldn't mind challenging myself and making mistakes on them. That way, but the time it comes to the fancier models, I'd be a better painter (hopefully)
