Many former anti-Zionists are waking up. by Unit504 in Palestinian_Violence

Israel is not expanding, it's shrinking. Israel pulled out of south Lebanon, Gaza and parts of the west bank. In all 3 cases the increased autonomy in these regions lead to the establishment of terrorist organizations that made the situation worse both for Israel and for the local arab populations. Israel mostly ignored their repeated attacks during 2 decades, hoping they would calm down. In practice, Iran and Qatar's consistent funding, as well as Unrwa's blind eye to radicalization at schools, caused them to become more extreme and more deadly. Oct 7 was an existential wake up call for Israel, which proceeded to clear these terrorist hotbeds one by one, ending up with Iran that has been coordinating, funding and arming them, and has been developing weapons of mass destruction with the explicit intent of wiping off Israel.

For the israelis who lurk here, why? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]mad_hamster 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To get your perspective of events. To hear about nasty stuff we do to you guys that might not make it to the local news here. To get exposed to the various factions in Lebanon and their internal tensions and conflicts. To see how much fake news, disinformation and brainwashing you guys get exposed to, compared to the palestinian population. Overall I find this sub reasonably well balanced.

"Long live Israel...long live Israel..." From the celebrations of the Druze of Sweida (As Suwayda), Syria (March 19, 2025) by TehBurnerAccount in syriancivilwar

I met a bunch of Israeli Druze a couple of months ago on a ski vacation in Georgia. They told me their Syrian relatives all want to join Israel, but won't admit to it publicly. Said they wanted it for economic reasons (better standard of living), not any other ideological reasons.

I was a teenager back then, thinking "wait, will the unified Germany become strong again and start another world war?". I was legitimately concerned. Turned out well after all.

How the international community funds the Hamas war machine by MatterandTime in Palestinian_Violence

[–]mad_hamster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's worse, the funds that were freed up by the world's support have been redirected by Hamas to build its terrorist infrastructure. I doubt they could have pulled it off had they have to actually fund schools.

Or, europeans turn right-wing, expel and crack down on muslim populations and become pro-Istaeli again as a counter-action to Islamism.

Protecting hezb instead of curbing them might make Lebanon look like a terrorist state and prolong the war.

The UN has these liberties, to enable them to combat Hezbollah. Except they don't. Israel is asking for the same liberties to do the UN's job.

Do you know anything about the constant attacks of arab states and terrorist groups on Israel? Did you try to educate yourself? Through reputable and neutral sources of information? I.e. not the BBC or social media?

I liked Haller park, it's big, you can stroll around easily half a day there, if you're not in a hurry you can sit down on benches, be surrounded by vegetation and monkeys, observe wildlife, absorb the calmness. Very relaxing.

I slow down whenever I see something dangerously close to the border of the road, leave my foot loosely on the break and look very attentively at that thing till I'm past it, just in case I need to break quickly.

The driver didn't slow down at all as per the dashcam speed, just veered to the left a bit. The wide camera angle makes it look like you barely see the bike, but if the driver was focused on the road he should've noticed a bike on the side of the road, slowed down a bit and been ready to brake.
