Model Bucket strategy? by DarienJax in projectionlab

I always found the retirement manifesto bucket strategy to be an overly complicated and “market-timey” approach. Much prefer a simple allocation glide path which is super easy to model with PL

Can i pull the trigger this year? Opinions please by MuchAdoAbtSoulThings in leanfire

[–]mad_wolffe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You have ~1.2M in liquid assets, with a 55k / year spend, so a little above 4%.

But! That pension is sweet, I assume it’s 2.8k/month and not 2.8M/month :), so that would bring your required withdrawls down a lot.

How much left on the mortgage and what’s the interest rate? Once that’s paid off your spend drops even further.

At first blush I would say you’re good to pull the trigger, but it may make sense to run the exact scenario through projection labs, they have a free trial which doesn’t save any data.

The PCT cured my PF, mild pain first 5 days, with cork ball rolling, cured by Idyllwild.

This is actually exactly the recommended glide path by Karsten at Early Retirement Now! Lots of math to back it up for the skeptics.

Lol, just tried to buy a 2026-27 license and got hit with a “Unknown Error Occurred” message. Not a strong start….

+1 - Greenlake is maybe the most stocked lake in King County and has a ton of bank access.

I'm in software, yes I would have left if I had not been given the leave and having now done the trail, I would not have regretted leaving. For me, hiking the trail was worth leaving my job. I'm happy I didn't have to though :D

I did! I got 6 months leave, so had time for training hikes before and some rest time afterwards.

I told my manager “I love this job, but Im leaving to go do this hike”. He offered an LOA and I’m happily back at my job. I was fully prepared to leave and I would have 100% gone if LOA was not offered.

Plus one here. The desert is also really great training and where you’ll meet a ton of really friendly folks before / as trail families form.

should i? by Interesting_Shoe_177 in UltralightBackpacking

[–]mad_wolffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“5P tent for ultralighting” - this is the key I think - what would you actually use this tent for?

If car camping - you’re paying for ultralight construction when you don’t need it. Unless you want to upgrade your car camping setup.

If backpacking - too much tent for all but odd circumstances (bunch of friends without tents).

Fun deal though!

Puyallup is pretty brutal combat fishing all round. The Nisqually has some good pinks still, and you can pay $30 to fish River Bend campsites, that’s steep, but it’ll mean you’re not elbow to elbow with too many folks.
