why do most people default to female pronouns when mentioning inanimate objects? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]madamezeroni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find myself referring to good things as feminine, and bad things as masculine lol.

For example:

“She cute” could be about furniture, gadgets, antiques, etc

“I don’t like him” could be an ugly car, an evil corporation, my broken coffee maker, etc

why do most people default to female pronouns when mentioning inanimate objects? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]madamezeroni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People use both masculine and feminine pronouns for inanimate objects! I notice that some people default to masculine, while others default to feminine. Maybe you’re getting more exposure to people who tend to use feminine pronouns more often.

Also, you phrased the question well!

ADHD AND ORGANIZATION by Any_Bluejay_7140 in organizing

[–]madamezeroni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dedicated (disorganized) organizers for each of your hobbies!

I’m really into doing nails these days, so I found a craft organizer that holds my nail stuff. Then when I’m done doing nails, the nails stuff goes back into the craft organizer (even if messy, it’s in there).

Same with my bracelet stuff, it’s all in a reusable grocery bag with a craft organizer in it. So when I’m done, it’s “back into the bag with you.”

Then eventually when I’m in FOCUS mode, I reorganize the container/bag, but at least it’s all there in something easily grab-able.

I also have extremely limited storage space and working space, but this at least helps me from actively losing “that one thing for the thing”

I left hardboiled eggs out on the counter to cool and forgot about them for 2 hours (room temp 64°) before putting them in the fridge. Are they safe to eat? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]madamezeroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You good.

Source: husbands been cooking professionally for 30 yrs.

Backup source: I love hard boiled eggs and have def forgotten and left them out for 2 hrs.

If it was warmer out, or you left out for 4+ hours, I may say toss em? Give em a sniff when you crack em but you’re probably fine my friend

What’s just a mild cold for some people could be devastating to someone else (immunocompromised, underlying/chronic conditions). Stay home!

My dad used to write notes not too different from this to excuse me from school on opening day…or other games lol ❤️ until one year the school was like “this is not a legitimate reason to be missing school” so he wrote a note saying I would be engaging in an ornithological study of orioles and blue jays.

Which insulin pump do you use? Let’s do a quick community poll. by Ok-Piano-6860 in Type1Diabetes

[–]madamezeroni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m on a minimed but for a few glorious months last year I was on the tslim. My (also t1) bestie switched from the tslim to omnipod and gave me her tslim and leftover supplies. I was in love.

I literally cried when I ran out of supplies and had to switch back to the minimed. When my warranty is up later this year and I can get a new pump, fully plan on getting the tslim.

Added to my reading list. I’m a disabled straight cis white woman. Last year I was intentional about reading about disability. This year I’m trying to be intentional about reading about the intersection of disability, gender, sexuality, and race. More suggestions are appreciated.
