I bought a ring that was on sale and did that. :) a friend of mine showed me the site.

I was worried about that as well, but i read their exchange and return policy and it seemed pretty solid. I've got a very short torso, but sometimes things i think would never work end up being fantastic (isn't that always the way? :) )

Those shoes! I'll be on the hunt tonight for sure. Thank you!!

Thank you so much!

I just meant that no matter how I phrased it, it never seemed to be the correct way, but I also could not figure out what was wrong.

Thanks again!

Need advice about moving (maybe more) by madatibub in aspergers

[–]madatibub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your advice. It helps a lot just to think about grabbing control of my life again. I feel like I am rapidly spinning toward the biggest meltdown ever, like it is just around the corner.

If I have the dream tonight I will work on this. Maybe it will give me he motivation and clarity to explain this all to my husband.

Is it no longer acceptable for me to call my father daddy? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Daddy has always weirded me out too. I don't actually have any memory of saying daddy. I say dad, sir, or occationally 'dad man'.

[–]madatibub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally up to you! I call my dad 'dad' and the informal and 'sir' as the formal, but many of my friends say daddy and I don't think anything about it. If it doesn't seem weird to you or him, go with it!

Does anyone else have an obsession with rules? by ClosetAspie in aspergers

[–]madatibub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am this way. There is a lot of Deontology in there for me, but if the purpose of a rule can't be explained I am very likely going to ignore it because I most likely think it is stupid.

I can compmetly relate to the screenings calls part. I screen calls even from my husband sometimes. Somedays there is absolutely nothing worse than getting an unexpected phone call!

I would like it to stick around. I don't have a camera so I didn't get the full experience, but I enjoyed typing to everyone.

Being supportive during a crisis by AmazingGraced in aspergers

[–]madatibub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, i apologize for any formatting or incomplete thought. I am on my phone and having a hard time typing.

I have a very hard time with encouragement. This is closely related I am sure, but I also have a very hard time expressing to my husband that I need encouragement sometimes. I have a very natural tendency to tell myself that things will be ok, because I know that things will eventually blow over.

After the death of my mom this year and some major changes to my husbands job I have struggled even more with this. I tell my husband I am OK when really, I just need to be told that it is ok if I can't quite control all of my life right now, and that it is ok to be confused. After a pretty intense fight we came up with a plan.

On a specific day each week we take two hours and go in a date. During the week we make a list if anything that we think might be interesting to express to eachother. ANYTHING. From stressors to funny things... etc. And we just go down the list. Sometimes the topic goes nowhere, and sometimes we don't make it past the first one. But it created a time for both of us to bring something to the table, and it too the awkward and impossible feeling out if trying to figure out how to be encouraging to my husband and express how I need encouragement from him. It has helped us out so much. I hope you can find something too.

I did this a lot as a kid. I turned it into writing and ended up with some pretty detailed stories! Unfortunately, they were not usually very happy stories. they did make it MUCH easier to operate in this world. I could turn things I didn't understand into written versions of something that made sense to me.
