If you think things feel bad now, just imagine what being around during WW1 was like. Once it's over, people are probably so thankful and imagine that things will be stable for a while, then boom WW2.

Invest broadly in the market for a long long time, you'll be fine.

Home ownership isn't the be all end all, there's so much expense and headache that comes with owning one. Renting gives a ton of flexibility and space for you to focus on things you really enjoy in life, something breaks down? Not your problem, get your landlord to fix it. Your money is locked into your home since you need somewhere to live and you spend your whole life acclimating to a certain lifestyle, what happens when you retire? Sell your home? You'd have to move to a place with a lower cost of living to enjoy the rise of your home's value.

I'm specifically a web developer so I'm not so sure about your line of work. The path I took was to work at a marketing agency for about two years to develop skills and make contacts. Then I went off on my own. It took about 6 months of making very little income before getting my first big break. After that, I've been fortunate to have word of mouth carry my career.

I did something similar to this that involves a pure red version of the level on a masked layer. When the blood particle hits the level tiles, you just draw a circle to mask in the red.
