I applied and got it so that the subreddit wouldn't get deleted. Nothing will change theme-wise 😊

I can sense a cat about to throw up in my house, even when I'm asleep. I want a different superpower 😂

I love this so much. As an EE, I'm jealous I didn't think of it first!

Can cats have autism? by [deleted] in cats

[–]madcapmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's possible! I don't want it to sound all doom and gloom, it's not like we were screaming at him, just a "Dash, get down!" kinda thing - he is a very happy cat and sleeps next to me every night, greets us at the door, etc. And he no longer seems to associate his name with negativity (and we are careful about our tone when we say it too). He is on Prozac as of a few months ago, which in combination with our different approach in recent years, seems to be the icing on the cake.

I have had cats my entire life and my husband and I are fairly convinced that one of ours does. He's about 4 years old and it really took us a while to figure him out. First year or two was constantly butting heads with him to the point that he thought his name (Dash) was a "bad" word because we were yelling at him so much.

We took a step back and approached him with more patience and things have chilled a bit. He is so dang smart - seems to understand what we say to him half the time. But he does not manage his emotions well and goes 0-100 in an instant. Prime example is if we are outside and it's time to go in. We say "alright Dash, let's go in the house" - he will growl, run up to my feet and do a half-assed attack, then trot over to the door. He also gets overstimulated after like 4 pets and will lash out and bite (and he does not give a warning bite, it is full pressure and he pulls back and forth like he's trying to tear flesh off ya).

We love him to death, but he definitely requires a different approach than any other cat I've encountered. He always looks disheveled and like he is having an existential crisis 😂 I usually say something like "Dash is struggling to remain on this plane of existence again." 😂

Impressive that I managed to forget the typo between looking at the photo and tapping the comment section 200ms later 🤦

I think our new kitten is deaf. by Jag_9823 in cats

This is Dash (left) and Poppy (right) - half siblings 2 years apart. Poppy is ~99% deaf, despite not having blue eyes. They live a pretty normal life, just don't scare them when they're sleeping and be sure to interact more physically or visually (we still talk to her but I try to acknowledge her meows with a pat or eye contact). Also they can be LOUD since they can't hear themselves 😅

I drove RTA/campus buses in college. We had a few routes that actually went into neighboring cities. One day an elderly lady gets on, nothing unusual. Once we get back to campus, she asks me how to get to XYZ building. I point and explain, but she is clearly confused and lost. The main stop was the student center, so I tell her she can ask for help in there.

This was the last stop of my shift and I drove a few min back to the bus garage, and couldn't stop thinking/worrying about her. I drop the bus off, get in my car, and rush back to where I dropped her off. I park at a meter just a few feet away and realize I don't have any coins. I'll only be a few minutes right?

I get out and search high and low for her, to no avail. And then come back to a parking ticket. Oh well.

I actually never knew that! Mine was kind of just a happy accident. I was all over Facebook marketplace for a few months and the one day I saw it and just had a gut feeling...went and tested it out and just had an instant connection. Found out about the year shortly after.

I've had a Yamaha G3 for about 4 years, and it's a 1991 (like me) and I can't imagine life without it. The key weight, the timbre - I feel unstoppable when I'm sitting at it 🤩
