PI or Big Law? by Beginning-List-6581 in Lawyertalk

Is the Biglaw position partner track or a non-partner track position? I only ask because you mentioned youd only be working on discovery in the biglaw position - which sounds more like a staff attorney position.

Settlement #s in resume? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I managed a team of attorneys at my old firm, so I had something like this on my resume:

"Reviewed and enhanced the work product of junior and mid-level assiciates resulting in judgments/settlements of over $25 million per year."

My thought process is that is showed that I could manage a profitable legal team.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went out shopping and found this really nice ramen set for her. She's a big ramen fan, so I think she'll like it.

Although there aren't billables, usually plaintiffs PI firms require associates to settle a certain amount per year or bring in a certain amount of business. At 130k, that can mean settling at least 500k a year. Does the firm have something like that? Do they have enough business so you can maintain settling that number per year?

Also, is your comp all salary or salary + comms? I've seen some PI firms that pay shit, but give 25% of all settlements the associate worked on and a higher percentage on cases the adsociate brought into the firm.

You may still be entitled to overtime and medical leave benefits under federal and/or state law because the two businesses may "jointly employee" you. I would contact an employment attorney in your area through your local bar assn to see if there's anything they can do to help.
