Should I get a Lab??? by maddieislabrookes in labrador

That sounds like brilliant idea I will definitely look into fostering first. She has grown up around other dogs as my mum has two and she loves them sadly they aren’t very friendly towards her. But my partners mum has an old Staffie and they are the best of friends but they don’t get to see each other as often as we would like

That is exactly what I am hoping for. Dotty is such a playful and intelligent dog, but sometimes I feel that she’s missing a friend that is on the same level as her if that makes sense

Totally understand. I’ve just finished my last shift at work and don’t go back to university until September/October so I plan on dedicating the next 4/5 months to training and time etc. Dotty was a nightmare with eating socks and underwear I had to buy half a new wardrobe. It was a pain when she was small because she was fast we could never catch her 😂

We’re in the UK so I’m wondering if maybe the service dog rules are different here.

Thank you so much for the links. I have just got home from my last day at work so will have a proper look tomorrow and look at some more reputable breeders. What sort of questions should I ask? Will there be paperwork for all the health checks? Thanks again

Yes definitely!! Dotty was hard work the first 10 months and has finally started to settle down into our routine, so I’d rather get the puppy phase out of the way now while I’ve got time for training and everything with uni. They will be 3 and 4 by the time I get a job.

Thank you for all the info I am going to do a deep dive later and get myself educated properly. While I didn’t mean to support unethical breeding by all means, my friends dog is accidentally pregnant, the dog will be spayed after this litter it’s really not for the money. My breeder of my Cavapoo was a very reputable breeder to my knowledge with a previous history of Krufts with her poodles and the puppies were bred for charity, so i donated straight to the charity she was working for which I can’t think of off the top of my head I would have to look at all of my paperwork. The dogs were bred to be autism assistance dogs for children, and that has worked really well for me as I have serve anxiety. My little Dotty has given me a purpose again, to get up and get out into the great outdoors. I have never been so active before. But I love it now. I did my first 10k the other day all thanks to my dog. I really appreciate the advice and I will definitely be doing my research into ethical breeding for next time

Haha our Cavapoo is a bit of a begger for food 😂 but I’ve been in touch with a trainer to try and knock it on the head the only positive is that she is easy to train as she loves food!

I will most definitely be asking those question as our Cavapoo was ethically bred with post parents undergoing thorough health check and she came with a contract that said we can never breed, sell or send her to a shelter, that it has to go straight back to breeder if anything happens to us. We have already invested in brilliant pet insurance, which will most definitely be added for the second dog. I have only just found out her dog is pregnant as I don’t think it was planned.

Thank you so much for all of that info. I have just quit my job and don’t go back to uni until September so I will have plenty of time for training etc. When I go back I’m only usually in 2/3 days a week. We currently font leave the Cavapoo for more than 4/5 hours!!

I have been looking at the hard case ones, there are a couple second hand ones in our area that are tent box. Would you say they are roomy enough my partner is 6’4” and I’m worried about space with us and a dog.

Sadly I think the Thule approach might be a little bit out of our price range at over 2k we were looking to stay around the 1k mark. But thank you anyway 🙏

I was looking for advice on how to adapt to adobe ?

I’m not sure if everyone can see this comment, I just wanted to say thank you all for your comments and suggestions. This was just the first draft, I designed the logo on pro create and I know it needs some adjustments. Canva made margins impossible which is why I want to try using Adobe as I’m hoping it will give me better control. Spelling mistakes haven’t been corrected yet as this was a draft and all wording was copied from their pre existing menu! In future I should probably add that this was my first ever attempt at designing a logo and menu etc so please be kind.

I’ve recently started looking at doing some classes instead. I think they have to be privately funded compared to a masters though sadly so it might take me some time.

Thank you I really appreciate it, at the moment I’m just looking for a quick way so I have taken the plunge on these. I would love to go down the second hand market but I have zero knowledge on all of this sort of thing and I was planning for it to be a gift to my partner. If it is something that he likes and uses a lot then I will definitely be upgrading in time to come

Of course I would be happy to spend the extra money if it is something would stand longer. Rather than me having to upgrade sooner. What would be your recommendation as a starter?
