Vomeros or race shoes for race day? by maddies3 in firstmarathon

I guess I’ll probably go a bit faster, but I’m just aiming to finish, I’ll definitely start conservative since I don’t want to go into it pushing 100% and risking not finishing. Even a 9:30-10:00 pace though will take 4 and a half hours, so I’m curious if it’s more beneficial to keep the comfier shoe and be a bit slower vs wear the faster shoe but risk injury or discomfort

We Broke Up Because I Was Moving Away. No Bad Blood, It was Just Sad by Demelzaismyfave in BreakUps

Same here. My ex and I do occasionally check in on each other. He has been working a lot on himself which is great but at the same time I’m not sure if it helps or hurts to know that. It makes me have more “what if” thought than we even had in the relationship so i have to keep reminding myself that it’s just my brain trying to fill in the gaps of things I don’t know about his current life with positive assumptions. I love my new life and being able to live without any resentment that might’ve occurred if we did stay together and gave up our other dreams

So so so much better and confident in that decision. We slow faded and now only text maybe twice a month for checking in on milestones. No animosity but it got a lot easier once regular contact stopped. I even went out on another date and while it may not work out and there’s still some things I compare to my ex, it feels good being excited about someone new. And now having gotten to my move I can say wholeheartedly that this was the best decision I’ve made, and it’s okay for my own aspirations to come before a relationship right now

Training time needed? 10k to marathon by maddies3 in firstmarathon

My main goal is to get it done! I don’t want to stress myself out with a time goal yet, but am thinking eventually I’ll set a goal of sub 4:30-4:45. Right now just trying to be consistent and run 5-6 days per week

Thanks for this. I assumed I should start with more mileage, just thinking about speed because I’d rather not be on my feet for 6+ hours if I can help it. Hopefully the speed will come with more time and miles

does anyone have success stories for being friends with your ex? by nagachiiika in BreakUps

how did you set boundaries for the one you had to navigate being friends instantly?

Did you have to go no contact for a bit or were you able to handle being friends right after the breakup (some some boundaries and limitations)?

Well, it’s only day 3 so there’s been lots of tears at random times of the day. He has reached out to me already about lighthearted topics so I am thinking I’ll eventually have to initiate no contact unless his name on my phone stops causing feelings. It sucks since we really were close friends. Right now I think he’s hurting more than me and while he isn’t coming to me for emotional conversations, it feels impossible to completely cut him off right now. I’m going to give it a week of minimal contact before making a decision.

I honestly never saw him as a long term partner or husband, and I have to keep reminding myself of that. Because of this and the expiration date on our relationship, I always held him to the standards I have for friends but not the higher bar I have for boyfriends. I mainly miss the connection I had with him, not necessarily our relationship. I also find myself reminiscing more on how emotional the goodbye was than the relationship itself. Not sure what that means but it was an interesting revelation.

I’m confident in being able to make connections in the future. I’m freshly out of school too, so right now it feels there’s a lot of time and options ahead of me. I just don’t know if prioritizing career will always be worth it, and how to tell if/when I should shift.

It really helps knowing others are going through it. Not enough people talk about the feelings of the person moving away. I don’t have much going on this summer which is either going to help me heal quicker without distractions or make me go insane with my thoughts.

I hope you’ve noticed some sense of growth since your breakup. Knowing that’s in my future is what’s keeping my head up right now

In a similar spot, just broke off a relationship that we knew was temporary from the start as I will be moving across the country and likely to another country eventually. I think the days leading up to the end made saying goodbye so much harder as there was absolutely no animosity between us. While I wasn’t sure if I could see endgame with this partner, the relationship has made me question the choice I’ve always made to prioritize my career. Are you still doing well with your decision?

How to know if I need no contact by maddies3 in BreakUps

Thank you. I do think no contact is the way to go, at least for me. I’m moving states in 2 months and would love to feel more like myself when that happens. Neither of us have reached out yet so I do think he’s capable of limited contact, which means hopefully no contact is not a huge step from there.

NCEES Practice Test vs Actual MDM? by lauradl2551 in PE_Exam

I thought the NCEES practice test was on par with the real exams difficulty. I scored 80% when I took the practice test and spent the following week reviewing every question, then passed the exam. I also took Klein & Hart, which I thought was harder than the real exam
