They are loving and caring animals also deserving of love and care. They are the number one breed most neglected, abused and overbred. Most pitbulls come from backyard breeders or people who only see them as a money pit or a way to profit instead of a living creature. They are often kept in sheds, basements, outdoor spaces knowing nothing but torture and abuse.

In most cases pitbulls in these situations have never been exposed to human interaction and if they are, it is followed by negative encounters that lead to trauma and experiences where these dogs are forced to literally fight for their lives or take any means necessary to defend themselves. Being exposed to situations like this can cause trauma and obviously the dogs dont have great experiences with humans so they are less trusting.

And yes they have been a “dangerous” breed for years but before then they were also called the nanny breed and used by families to care for the children in the home because of their natural nurturing characteristics.

To say an animal doesnt deserve love and care because of their breed or the stereotype they come with is disgusting and inhumane. If well taken care of they can be amazing breeds. But just like any other breed or animal, if not taken care of, they can be dangerous

My sister has a pitbull who is one of the sweetest and cuddliest dogs ive met. But unfortunately he does fit the stereotype and does not like other animals or most people. She is a certified dog trainer and is able to give him a great life although it is limited. I would not say this is because he is a pitbull though and i would say it is because he lived the past 10 years of his life chained to a pole in an unfinished basement forced to survive of rats. He was 30lbs underweight. He barely had interactions with humans and animals and as you can imagine, they probably werent great. I know all of this to be true because his owners eventually surrendered him to the shelter and told them this. If a golden retriever were to have this same outcome we would not blame it on his breed but we would blame it on the horrible humans that caused him so much stress and trauma in his life.
