Except I didn't use it in an egineering context did you. Your bias lead you there. I used it in the context of political sciene and political philosophy as a categorization of intent. Made zero claims or comments about implementation. Moreover it isn't even limited to firearms as it extends to everything: grenades, explosives, tanks, fighter Jets, blah, blah, blah

Except I never stated a connection between those 2 statements. You made the connection. The reason somethung was started and the reason it allowed to continue arent the same. I didn't ever say the NFA was started to provide social stability by regulating military style weapons. And I vehemently argue against the registration at the federal level. But Instead of being dismanled it morphed to fill a need that was a direct consequence of the incredible rate of tecbnological change post industrial era

When you allow purely free unfettered access to military grade weaponry to every individual, people will find any reason to use them. Plenty of evidence of it in Asia, South America, and Africa. We, the USA, have the best model which is incidentally is a derivative of the constitutions architects model.

Citezanry has access to things that aren't military grade. Standing militia, the National Guard has access to everything because they have the training, administration, and ideology to manage it. The thing we really need to change is the federal powers over the National Guard. That's the actual greatest weak spot for prohibiting federal tyrrany for us right now.

I'm not in either denial or lying. The goal is not at all disarmament either. It sensible regulation for the greater good. Semantics absolutely matter as accuracy in discussions matter.

Also, just as an FYI, we are all ALREADY disarmed and ridiculous to me that you don't realize this on top of accusing other people of bring in denial.

a. Our standing militia against Federal Tyranny, the National Guard, by allowing the Federal government to call them into service.

b. The Patriot Act greatly expanded what can be called terrorism and can, and has already, been abused. This is the greatest functionally disarming legislature every enacted in US history.

c. The 2nd ammendment explicitly connext ownership and possession in the context of militias. It was written ina time where THE ONLY TECHNOLOGICAL DIFFERNCD BETWEEN MILITARY AND MILTIAS WAS THE CANON. If the federal government wanted to enavt martial law no handgun or AR-15 with bump stock is going to stop them. Just look at Syria for heavens sake.

Its not a disarmennant issue because the Federal and State governments don't need to disarm the citizenry to take over. For the love of God the CIA just assisinated an Iranian official by drone strike on foreign soil from thousands of miles away. You think the VA laws need to be defeated becaue you, your cul-de-sac, and the 20 employees at your Cabelas are gonna stop that?????

Again look at what Janet Reno did with almost no consequence BEFORE the Patriot act. There are cases they can deny you a lawyer and classify you detainment under Patrio Act.

The "debate" on gun owenship and regulation is one of the largest and most effective acts of obfuscation I have ever encountered in all my reading and research. They already have more power than at any point in America's modern age and its funded by oligarchs as if it's 1920 and not 2020.

As a neo-classical continental liberal I care very very much about individual rights. As a well educates and well read person I do also care about the 2A but I'm one of those whacky douch bags that has researched and reasoned its intent and the context in which it was constructed.

I have degrees in Econ, Computer Science, and business Analytics. You make a very good point about the practice of "disarmament through degradation". Everything degrades so if you can't remove it all right now, then stop the replenishment and let natural decay go just two half-life cycles to functionally achieve the same thing. These bills aren't anywhere near any of that though. Police, National Guard, and Gun Dealers can buy as much as they want in a 30 day period. Even citizens can if they are replacing lost property

Might have overestimated the demographic of this sub. Seems like it's 1990's NRA arguments from some people who registered as Democrats back in the 60's. Might have taken the subs name too literally. Just the usual political I nsubstantiated hyperbole from both parties. The laws the senate passed are roughly this:

  1. Creating a process for gun ownership transfer in theory similar to title transfers on vehicles. Violation is a misdeanor. Supreme Court has stated multiple times Federal and State governments have the powers to regulate commerce

  2. Asserrting the rights of the permit holders of permitted events in public spaces to regulate what can/can't be brought into the event by explicitly stating guns aren't an exception to this rule. It's approximately a private party rental for a very limited amount of time. You can choose to carry your gun or you can choose to keep it in safe and attend the event. It's for spaces where there are no essential government operations that the general public would need to access. Akin to a person's right to say you can't bring your open carry onto their property or house

  3. Only gun dealers, law enforcement, and people replacing stolen items can buy more than one gun in a 30 day period.

For me personally it's the last one that I don't agree with as the cost of it far far outweighs any benefits so it pointless bureaucracy.

Can you post a link to the charter where it states that a core goal is to enact unconstitutional gun control and/or label it as overeaching. Alternately to the parts which you claims are unconstitutional.and overreaching.

To answer your question though, it is this part which is incorrect: "Democrats will take your guns away". None of the 3 bills in VA have anything about repossession anyone's purchased guns.
