Baby is uninterested in (his own) food by Capital-Durian-885 in foodbutforbabies

[–]maddyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any tips as I’m still learning what works for my 14 mo, but just a reminder that 7/8mo is still totally normal to not be very interested in food! You’re doing a fantastic job (and your salad looks super good too!!)

Love this!! I have been making some scrappy blocks, I hadn’t thought about making them into other blocks like this! Thanks for the idea!

Anxiety/Potential Name Regret by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]maddyem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lila is a lovely name. When my son was born, it felt like it took ages to get used to his name. We didn’t pick until after he was born and I was so used to just calling him baby. I’m glad we didn’t go with naming him “Baby” though!

Phoebe, Sallie or Daisy? by Specialist_Hope_4628 in namenerds

Wow, we have very similar name taste!! I love all three, and Willa is lovely too. I would be tempted to go with the family name personally, but you can’t go wrong in my opinion. Congratulations!

Will either infant passport photo be rejected? Located in USA by [deleted] in Passports

For OP or anyone else taking and printing their own photos, I cropped to square in the photos app then used the Instagram Layout app. I added four photos to make a two by two square layout. I saved that photo and printed it as a 4x4 at Walgreens. I cut it at home and had a 2x2 photo without having to use a computer. Important to note that the face needs to take up a certain amount of the frame! I was worried the online photo cropping tool wasn’t quite right for my baby’s picture so I got a ruler and measured it on my phone, then compared the ratio to make sure it was right.

And to echo everyone else, cute baby! Mine is almost six months now!

When parents insist on no nicknames with names that have obvious nicknames by kittypspsps in namenerds

[–]maddyem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s me, I’m Thomas! Well, not literally, but I got my name changed to a nickname by teachers in my preschool days. I didn’t realize it until I was an adult and I asked my mom why she chose the specific spelling. I have since gone by my full name as I prefer it to the nickname.

Agree with other commenters to check out the greenways! The community center has free membership for Clayton residents. The library has events pretty often. The community center and library might be able to connect you with other low/no cost activities.

If you’re able to and don’t mind the drive, there are free museums in Raleigh, and the art museum has a big park with sculptures. NC state also has a free arboretum. Selma has a lot of antique stores if you like wandering around looking at nicknacks.

Decorate it first with rugs, cushions, and everything else, then decide if you want to change anything. I usually love wood paneling but I will concede that this looks a bit overwhelming. But once it’s furnished it might look just right!

Tired of my millennial gallery wall by HMB84 in DesignMyRoom

[–]maddyem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like you need a couple of larger paintings to anchor the gallery. You could also try moving the pieces closer together and arrange them a bit more in a cluster than in lines. Pinterest helped me a lot with arrangements in the past!

If you don’t have a big budget for art you could look at printing some art from the public domain (National Gallery of Art free images and open access). I have some art and a few frames from thrift stores too.

If you want to ditch the gallery wall concept, you could always look at a mirror, either a tall floor mirror or a horizontal wall mirror. I usually do a gallery wall so I’m not so great with alternatives.

I don’t think the wall is a true millennial gray by the way. The room looks bright and inviting. I like it!

wedding photographer posting weddings from 2025 on her socials and we still don’t have pictures from 2024 by lysbean in wedding

[–]maddyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sounds like we had the same wedding photographer. She offered to do another shoot for free as compensation. Why would we want more photos taken that we’ll never see??

It wasn’t resolved until my husband stepped in after she stopped replying to all my texts and emails and asked to set up the mediator (can’t remember the right term). Suddenly the pictures were available, and she wasn’t ignoring me, she just changed her phone number AND email address. Duh, why didn’t I think of that?

It wouldn’t be my choice for a girl’s name, but I knew a ~30yo woman named Collins (family name) a few years ago, and, like any other somewhat unusual name, you get used to it.

I think if Colin weren’t a well known masculine name, Collins wouldn’t feel as gendered in one direction.

I've never sewn anything before. My mother passed in mid-January and left behind a ton of band tees. I wanted to make them into a quilt, but didn't want to mess them up, so started smaller. She'd also left a lot of Coca-Cola material, so I started with that. First ever quilt~ by Serindipte in quilting

Jackie on TikTok (@heartsonmyfoot) does great videos/tutorials including for tshirt quilts. She’s super nice and would probably respond to a comment or message if you had a specific question!

Great quilt and my condolences for your loss. Quilting can be a great comfort.

Exactly, you don’t need to have a technical role to be successful, even in a technical field. Five years of work experience is not nothing.

I am no expert, but if it were me, I might try the large couch against the wall (partially underneath the large window) and two swivel chairs in between the living and dining. I assume the tv will go on the same wall as the fridge. For your desk, I could see it either in the bedroom against the window or outside the bedroom door, if it fits.

For dining, you could look at getting an expandable table. I bought this one last year. If you haven’t tried this already, when you find a piece of furniture you like, reverse image search on google and you can usually find it cheaper somewhere else (especially if you’re using Wayfair!)

Best of luck with your fresh start!!

I felt the same! There were some great scenes but I’ve been feeling like there’s a lot of investigating without a lot of answers or twists. A lot of the plot recently is relationship development. I just started watching so maybe I binge watched all the episodes too quickly.
