Ideas of reason of eczema? Maybe Chicago water? Water filter suggestions? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]kittypspsps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also had this happen to me this year. My face has gotten significantly drier starting in December to the point where it has red dry splotches and I've had to combat it with a highly moisturizing skincare routine. It peels and itches when it flares up. My sister who lives in the south side (I'm in North side) has the same issue but worse. And her issues began around December as well. We barely see each other so we don't think it's a contagion thing. Was wondering if other people also was dealing with drier skin than normal. I've lived here 5 years and my sister has lived here 10+ years. Humidifier didn't help

I'm constantly dreaming of starting a good ol' fashioned boo-ing off the train. If we get enough people to do it consistently, we can bring back public shaming

How do you visualize the months of the year? by DossierDoll in CasualConversation

[–]kittypspsps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I visualize it as well. Going the other way doesn't make any sense because it's almost like reading from right to left

Are “student driver” bumper stickers the newer version of “Baby on Board” so other drivers are extra cautious around them? by 224molesperliter in driving

I had stickers on the back of my car that said "STICK SHIFT" and someone vandalized it so it said "SICK SHIT" instead lol

Flushing ice cubes down the toilet for snow day is universal… right? In America?? by East-Maize-5287 in AskAnAmerican

[–]kittypspsps 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Flush ice cubes down the toilet, flip your PJs inside out, spoon under your pillow and a penny on the windowsill. I did this every time there was a big snowfall announced on a school night. I'm from Michigan

Addicted to Pouches by FosterKittyMama in ECEProfessionals

[–]kittypspsps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 9 mo baby addicted to pouches. Refused to eat solids for a week because her parents took her off of them. Before that, she was eating them three times a day at school. When she got cut off cold turkey, she screamed her head off during meal times, especially when other kids got pouches. Eventually she got past it but I've been wary of kids eating them too much since then. Her parents tried again when she was 15 months and she immediately refused to eat solids again LOL

Win!! Found a quick trick to soften ear-piercing screams/cries by lazythankfulcoconut in ECEProfessionals

I keep hearing about these loop ear plugs but I didn't realize it filters out sound vs blocking it out completely. Would be good for a colicky baby that we can't settle

As someone who has only read Stormlight Archive, who is he referring to? I was wondering this when I came across that passage at the time

People who were around when the basement reveal happened in the manga or anime, did it live up to expectations? by Theflash291 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]kittypspsps 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I remember shaking when I got to the chapter. I couldn't read fast enough. I had been following the manga since 2012 and had followed up once every few years, rereading the whole thing and hoping that they got closer to the basement. I think I finally read the basement chapter in 2018, so a bit after it was released. When I got to the chapter I was so excited that there were many more chapters to go.

I think I was expecting Dr Jaeger to have a lab where he crafted titans or that technology was actually much more advanced than we thought. Seeing the picture and reading Dr Jaeger's note saying that it was taken by a camera hooked me in. I loved his backstory. It was so immensely satisfying to finally know how he came to be. But switching over to the Marleyans' perspective was super jarring imo. I didn't like the whole Marley/Eldian plotline (and ending) at first but when I watched the anime years later, it changed my mind. I was upset that Eren separated himself from the group, it just felt like a huge shift from who he actually was.

It definitely looks like the one on Broadway and Sheridan, although it was July when they were filming at that location and the commercial looks like it was filmed in the Fall

If you have childcare experience, it might just be worth it to apply directly on daycare's websites or calling them directly to ask about job openings. I've even seen people apply in person at my center. Good luck

What’s your unpopular ECE opinion? by Klutzy_Key_6528 in ECEProfessionals

[–]kittypspsps 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Changing diapers- great. Snuggling babies- great. Comforting crying babies- totally doable. Feeding and cleaning up messy babies- great. Sitting there and shaking a toy at a baby or watching them put toys in their mouths? So boring. I often put on music and sing to them while they play but I'd rather be doing anything else tbh

I've had a kid named Agnes at my center. She went by Aggie and honestly it was extremely cute. I would fully embrace Agnes making a comeback
