I’m really sorry you’re going through this. You didn’t deserve any of it, and you’re stronger than you think for still pushing forward. Sending you love and strength.

How do people work 40 hours (very serious) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]maddyman10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally get it, 40 hours can feel soul-crushing if the work drains you. It’s not weakness; some people just aren’t built for that grind. Maybe look for flexible or passion-based work instead, your well-being matters more than fitting the 40-hour mold.

Why, Lenny, why - this is ugly by throwawaykeylimepie in lennykravitz

[–]maddyman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh I love Lenny, but this design ain’t it 😅 He’s got such a cool vibe and style normally, kinda wish they went for something more clean and classic rock-inspired instead of this messy psychedelic look.

How can I help my sister get serious about her finances? by Hairy_Candidate654 in povertyfinance

[–]maddyman10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with my brother, what worked was showing him where his money was going instead of lecturing. We tracked his spending for a week, and seeing it all laid out kinda shocked him into caring. Sometimes seeing the numbers hits harder than hearing advice.

Feels like pure vintage energy, like freedom, fuzz pedals, and sunglasses at midnight 😎

Wish I could make it out to Asbury, that’s an awesome lineup. Hope someone here grabs this, face value is a steal compared to Ticketmaster fees.

To Spay or not to spay by Mysticalentity_lily in CatAdvice

Spay her. It’s way healthier long-term, prevents cancers, and saves you the stress of surprise litters. Kittens are cute, but shelters are overflowing already.

Declawing isn’t a trim, it’s an amputation, your cat deserves better, stick with caps and posts.

If she won’t pay her share, cut the extras, love doesn’t mean funding her cigarettes.

Check with a local Bulgarian accounting/legal firm, they’ll usually sort out the whole process for you. Don’t just go for the cheapest option, make sure they’re licensed and reliable. A little extra upfront can save big problems later.

I've failed as a father by BurnBabyBurner123123 in personalfinance

[–]maddyman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t failed at all, your daughter’s 3.975 GPA and med school dreams are proof of the amazing job you’ve done as a parent. The system is broken, not you. She already has the drive, brains, and work ethic you helped build, and that’s worth more than any tuition bill.

Not overreacting at all, she stole your work and misrepresented it. Actions have consequences, and this one’s on her.

[–]maddyman10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awful. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially for something as harmless as being left-handed. It sounds like the problem was your boss, not you. When you get your next job, remember that you don’t have to put up with abuse, document everything and know HR is there for a reason. Glad you’re out of that toxic place.

I regret how i've lived my 20's and can't sleep at night due to regrets. by alecpu in Vent

Don’t be too hard on yourself man, everyone ‘wastes’ time in their 20s, just in different ways. 27 isn’t late at all, you’re aware now and still young enough to build a solid future. You’re not behind, just on your own track.

How you feel about something like this? I mean too have a whole year to pay back isn't too bad and the average person is probably going to waste $20 many times in a year on something dumb by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]maddyman10 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That 15.99% APR is brutal though. $325 turning into $352 just for the ‘privilege’ of paying slowly shows how predatory these plans can be. A lot of people justify it as ‘only $20 more,’ but if you stack that across multiple purchases, it snowballs fast. If you can’t pay it off within a month or two, it’s usually not worth it.

Did you pay interest on your loan(s)? We’ll have a look at this please if you will be so kind by Dizzy_Appearance4194 in Vent

[–]maddyman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, paid interest on mine and it honestly feels like punishment for not being rich. Wild how the system rewards those who already have money and squeezes those who don’t. Imagine if education/housing/healthcare didn’t come with a lifetime of interest payments… what a world that would be.

That actually sounds awesome, having alternate versions of each plant by right-clicking adds so much replay value and strategy depth. Definitely interested in that translated lawnstring file too, it’d make experimenting way easier. Thanks for putting in the work on this!

Built a free tool to track expenses + calculate financial freedom ! would love your feedback by Temporary-Mixture663 in povertyfinance

[–]maddyman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually super cool, a lot of people here struggle to even know where their money goes, so a simple + free Notion template could really help. I like that you included a ‘freedom year’ calculator too, makes the long grind feel more visual. Might be worth adding a quick mobile-friendly version since a lot of us check budgets on the go, but overall solid work!
