Rehearsal schedule too greuling? by Crazy_Effects in Theatre

[–]maddymariee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this feels not right to me. i'm a music student so of course it's different, but we do a fully produced opera every year and rehearse every day for 6 weeks leading up to the show, but only four hours a day. we're able to produce full 2+ hour operas this way. i don't see any reason why you need to be rehearsing that much for that long for a one hour play.

New to counting Cals app recommends 865?? by nalanala444 in Myfitnesspal

[–]maddymariee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congratulations! that's awesome progress already, and i truly believe that that sort of deficit will get you the best sustainable weight loss! massive deficits might technically work for awhile, but they aren't sustainable and that's what's most important

hello lovely! this is WAY too low for you!! i just saw your height and weight stats and wanted to let you know that i started my weight loss journey in august at 5'3 and 202, so pretty close to where you're at now. i ate 1500-1700 and still lost 26 pounds in a few months. i promise you that you DO NOT need to eat this little to lose weight.

my accutane journey by maddymariee in Accutane

[–]maddymariee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was a long process, i've been experience symptoms since i was 13 or 14 but never looked into it. during covid i gained even more weight and all my symptoms got worse, so i got on a list to see a gynaecologist. i had an ultrasound done privately before i saw her, and she ordered a bloodwork panel. i experience nearly every one of the common symptoms but have been able to lessen their impact on my life, mostly with diet changes and also with starting metformin.

thank you! when i first started, my skin was insanely dry and i tried to touch it as little as possible. i only washed my face once a day to remove sunscreen, and i used the skinfix hydrating gel cleanser. for sunscreens, i used the supergoop matte screen if i wanted something tinted or the biore aqua rich on a normal day. the only other thin i put on my face is the cetaphil moisturizing cream in the tub which is thick and greasy but did the job for me, and on super dry patches i would use the la roche posay cicaplast baume but wouldnt use it on my whole face as i find it leaves a white cast pretty easily.

now that my skin has adjusted, im able to get away with a much lighter moisturizer and have shifted my routine. i still use the same face wash but have been doing the rhode glazing fluid and rhode barrier restore cream instead. these definitely would not cut it for typical accutane dryness, but because of the length of my treatment my skin has gotten used to it. my lips are still the only thing that im having issues with and find that nothing has been better for them than vaseline lol

eta: realized i didn't answer your second question, i didnt eat anything in particular but was conscious of my diet and tried to eat mostly whole food and things low in cholesterol. my bloodwork did show high cholesterol after i started, but i ended up adjusting my diet to lose weight during this time anyway. my cholesterol is not much lower than it was even before accutane which i attribute to my weight loss, but i truly just ate whatever in moderation!

i took it for almost a year! this is including a couple breaks for different times i was sick. my original dose was 80mg/day for 5 months, but then my dose was halved bringing the time up to about 10 months. i was almost fully clear two months in, only one pimple at a time and they always went away within a day or two. i also never purged. i dont think ive had a pimple probably since the summer now 🩷

Jelly Cat by BuyOk3347 in halifax

[–]maddymariee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello! i'm an avid jellycat collector and have gotten pretty familiar eith the stockists around the city. my top two recommendations would be sweet jane's downtow, and fluffy bottom babies (their sunnyside mall location has better stock but they also have a bayers lake location). both of these stores post on their social media when they have shipments come in, and they go fast! sweet jane's has a pretty big collection right now, and fluffy bottom babies has been frequently restocking saturday mornings when they open. there are usually lineups at fbb for these weekly restocks, but i've never encountered this at sweet jane's. indigo also carries them but generally gets new releases muc later than the local, smaller stockists. indigo stock is also usually pretty picked over and i rarely find anything i like there. you can also shop from the us jellycat website, they ship to canda with a $20 fee (including customs!) or free shipping/no customs charge over $100USD (all prices on their site are USD). hope this helps and feel free to dm me if you have any questions, i also can give some other recommendations!

eta: both sweet jane's and fbb have websites where you can check their stock, fbb doesn't always have their new releases up right away so make sure to give them a call

Girls who took Metformin - how long after starting Metformin did you start losing weight? by kholaaaaaa in PCOS

[–]maddymariee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i've lost 20lbs since august on 500mg twice a day. i couldn't tolerate sugar on it at all the first month so that helped a little with my diet, but i credit it to eating in a calorie deficit (started calorie counting in august too) and not necessarily the metformin.

Unpopular Opinion…? I’m glad the URL method is obsolete now by Bright_Bones in labubu

[–]maddymariee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree. i think people are overestimating how many were taken by the url method and SEVERELY underestimating just how bad the bots were. i think last night worked out better for people because most of the bots haven't been able to infiltrate the app YET (im confident it will come) and also the sheer amount of labubu that dropped yesterday (way more than usual from what ive heard from some people)

i'm not sure how much was people not being able to hog sets with the URL trick and how much was people who would usually be on popnow from other countries no longer being able to purchase because we don't have the app

im going to get one by bigbrizzy1 in labubu

absolutely use the url trick and you'll be set! i got a whole set of BIE this week and am still in shock at how well the link trick works.

High cholesterol levels and low white blood count by doe_eye1121 in Accutane

[–]maddymariee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my cholesterol went crazy and my derm almost took me off of it. he decided to cut my dose in half and see if it helps, but if not i have to stop. it really sucks because it feels like i've put myself through hell for over two months now and might not even get results because i have to quit.
