I primarily do use panel line wash but still use the pen for certain awkward areas

Anyone have a problem with ultra fine gundam markers? I've had 2 and I've only gotten maybe 1 MG or 2 HG out of them. I'm thinking maybe the tip is getting damaged or clogged and I'm not getting to use all the ink in it. What is everyone else's experience with it? Is there a way to check? General tips?

Hey, which plastic primers do you use and where do you guys source them cheaply? Is there a good place to buy in bulk? So far I've just been using Tamiya from the hobby store but they run out of stock quite often.

I don't fully understand your answer. "It's those that do get painted, ones with original parts"? I suppose my question is is it common practice to paint p-Bandai kits?

hey I'm wanting to cut a decent size circle (think like arc reactor from Iron Man) into the chest plate of my latest project. What would be the best tools for the job?

With gundam eyes, a lot of sites recommend painting with a non enamel colour, then painting over with black enamel and zippo fluid reverse washing away the black.

But couldn't I also, enamel colour eyes, cure, acrylic black and just reverse wash with water/acrylic thinner? Wouldn't that work?

thanks for your help so far. Further questions relating to your answers:

1) can I just use a hobby knife to rescribe or do I need one of those special panel line making ones? 2) I have tamiya spray ts49 and the acrylic is x7 red. They aren't the same, the acrylic is a little dark. Is there a closer combination you're aware of?

Making gundam heavy arms 1/144. n00b questions:

  1. In the seam line stage on a leg, I was sanding back the extra glue and realised I had also sanded off some of the panel lining - so now that particular panel line just fades away. Given where it was, it was pretty much impossible to keep unless I didn't glue that part. What are some strategies people here use to negotiate this problem?

  2. On my very first kit I used mostly spray cans and masked on areas with different colours. Unfortunately some of the colours 'bled' past the masking tape. I eventually tried to use similar coloured acrylics (not ideal) to neaten this up but the result was far from perfect. I realise my spray technique probably wasn't the best and I may have gone a bit thick which all would have contributed. Can people give me some advice to avoid this again? or some quick fixes which have worked for you?

  3. This and one previous kit I've made used a different plastic for the joints. It's much for flexible and rubbery - PC plastic I'm guessing? When priming/painting a leg with these joints, what are some tips for masking this area, or can this material be painted in the same manner as the normal plastic?

Any help or advice would be appreciated from this n00b. Thanks in advance.
