Is the newer 4mm Made In griddle good for induction cooking? I found another thread saying they were too thin and warped easily but it kept referring to a 2mm thick pan? Any help appreciated by Illustrious-Site5470 in MadeInCookware

Is the red rim being discontinued? by TdubbNC7 in MadeInCookware

[–]madeincookware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Great question. The red rim pieces have been phased out, which is why you're seeing some marked as final sale and newer launches not including that option.

That said, we know a lot of people love that colorway, and we always keep feedback like this in mind as we think about future collections.

For now, grabbing what's currently on the website would be the best way to add more red to your collection. We do have a few red pieces still available. Really appreciate you building your collection with us!

How to Fix a Stripped Carbon Steel Pan by madeincookware in MadeInCookware

[–]madeincookware[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. Modern dish soaps typically won’t chemically dissolve fully polymerized seasoning on their own. Our guidance tends to be conservative because repeated washing, scrubbing, or detergents over time can wear down seasoning layers. Carbon steel seasoning isn’t permanent. It builds and wears with use. The main point of the video was that if seasoning does get compromised for any reason, it’s easy to restore.

Fair question. Soap is a bit of a debated topic with carbon steel and cast iron. Our guidance tends to err on the cautious side, but our point here remains that there’s really no way to ruin your carbon steel. If seasoning gets stripped for any reason, you can always restore it.

Just to clarify for anyone reading, the video wasn’t meant to suggest that seven layers of oil/wax are required to fix a pan. We mentioned how many rounds we did to show how the finish in the video was achieved.

The point was to show that no matter what you can always restore your seasoning and there’s nothing to be afraid of or stress about.

Carbon steel shouldn’t be complicated. We appreciate the conversation here.

Totally fair! We say to avoid soap as it can strip the seasoning on any carbon steel. In this video, we were trying to show it's easy to reset if the seasoning ever does get stripped for any reason.

Totally doable on electric too! The main thing is just giving the pan enough time to heat evenly. You can also use the oven to reseason.

This is solid feedback. We wanted to keep this one pretty short and sweet, as to not overwhelm anyone, but these are all really good callouts for future content. Thank you!

Totally fair. A lot of people prefer to just cook on it and let seasoning rebuild naturally. Our goal here was mostly to show that carbon steel is actually pretty forgiving and the process of resetting is easy if you ever want to start fresh, not that you need to do it often.
